Does anyone have ANY ideas about how to control ants? I live in central Florida and it seems no matter what do?

my yard is infested. They laugh at the traditional pesticides (which I hate). My Dogs are getting bitten, and they are ruining my gardens. HELP!!!

Make your own ant poison out of Borax, sugar and water. Mix one part Borax to 4 parts sugar. Add just enough water the mixture to dissolve it. Now take a small piece of tin foil and pore some of your mixture on it and place it in areas where you see the ants the most. They will take it back to their nests and it will kill the queen. It's CHEAP and works every time!

    PS

You can use the Borax in your laundry.

I had the same exact problem but I recently found the only thing that seemed to work. Get those Grant's ant killers and fill the little hole with hot water. It will then attract the ants. Don't kill them and they will take it back to their colonies. This will kill the whole colony and ants will stay away. I had millions of them then a co-worker told me about this so I decided to try it and iI can't believe it actually worked. I have not had ants for 2 weeks so far and I am loving it. I hope this helped :)

Sounds like fire ants if the dogs are bitten. I live in St. Pete. I always used Amdros fire ant killer. It's important to follow the instructions. The ants carry it to the queen. Just put screen over the mound so the dogs don't get it. I haven't had them for four years now but the neighbors also use it.

Amdros; but follow the directions carefully.
