infections or allergy ?

what can be the cause of swelling, say on the face? There's no puncture marks/cuts/abrasion and you find a part of your face swollen and in a red, round patch about 4cm in size? Is it safe to just take a course of antibiotics and will this help the swelling to subside within say, 2-3 days?

Look, I'm no doctor but since there are no cuts it sounds a bit like an allergy. I mean, infections only appear if you cut yourself or at least, some sort of punctured mark.

A round patch of 4 cm in size? A blood blister - this can't be since you need to have some contact with an object...

Why don't you call your local doctor?
