Do you agree with Ron Paul when he said Obama's health care would be "incredibly expensive"?
http://www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/index.ssf/2...
Former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has a frank prescription for the health care plan making its way through Congress:
Scrap it.
"I think it's monstrous," Paul said.
"I don't think it will improve medical care in this country. I think it's very, very costly and we don't have any money. And they don't have any way of paying for it."
The libertarian GOP congressman and physician was in East Grand Rapids today for a private reception for what was touted as a "conservative comeback luncheon."
Paul is skeptical of estimates that peg the 10-year cost of the plan backed by President Barack Obama at $1 trillion. He puts it much higher.
He noted that cost estimates for Medicaid and Medicare are often below the mark.
"On average, it's two or three times more expensive than they say. It's going to be incrediblity expensive."
What do you think?
Caribou, I know you don't. You are a liberal wing nut

I think Ron Paul is often very right even if no one likes to admit it.

Ron Paul has the facts wrong. Here is the quote from Nixon who signed the law. "Under S. 14, the Government would provide financial assistance to help various groups determine the feasibility of developing an HMO in their area, as well as assistance for planning and initial development. HMO's would be required to operate competitively without Federal subsidies at the end of an initial period of Federal support." The act was meant to help HMO grow, not force people to sign up for HMO. That come in 1990s when health care costs begin spiral out of control and many signed up without government involvement. HMOs stopped the spiral for a short time. If there was no government health care like Medicare and a ban on trial lawyers, we would have more uninsured and those who pay would pay more.

Every Government entitlement program has FAR exceeded the original estimates of cost-- every one. Ignore what they are promising- it will get so expensive the Government will either go broke ( well, more broke) or start to ration care. If you want to entrust your life to some cretin who thinks a computer terminal is the voice of God, tell your Congressman and Senators you are in favor of the bill ( you must be the only one who has read it- even Obama has not) If you do not want that, better raise a stink with the same folks in Washington. Silence is an affirmative answer. By not saying anything, you are approving.

It's not 'we' who are going to pay for HEALTH INSURANCE, it's every American individually. Right now some pay for insurance, some get it free and some overpay out of pocket. Some of us pay extra so the uninsured get treatment, some of us pay a lot more. Some of us can't get insurance and for a lot of others it's too expensive. A public plan ends this nonsense. Insurance is 'shared risk'. As all of us are equally prone to illness or injury at some point in life, all of us have to assume some of the risk...unless of course we decide that those that can't afford or can't get insurance should spend down what ever money they have and them be allowed to die with no further treatment. Besides..so what if it's 'expensive'? What's more important...your health or your money? Believe me...if you're sick no amount of money in your pocket will make you feel better...only modern medicine will do that. Let's grow up...this is the 21st century.

Totally agree........Health care is broken but this is not the answer.
I find it comical that the Dem's are now running ads blaming the GOP for the resistance LOL like anyone is really stupid enough to fall for that. The have a filibuster proof House and Senate so what is stopping them? Its a few "Blue Dogs" that are actually thinking ( about saving their collective political anuses ) that the American people do not want it.
edit.....don't worry about caribou...her/his degree of bitterness has become legend on Y!A LOL

Fix the Medicaid, Medicare entitlements before you start sailing our ship into deeper waters.
When I first began to look at what problem involved it staggered me. Then little old me came up with a Solution that would really work.
Turn over all know facts concerning the Medicaid, Medicare to collage students. through out our land for collage credits, -- you better believe they would hit the lab tops---- rout out the errors in our current system- come up with correct workable Solutions.
No need to invite Harvard,Yale,or Princeton students they appear to be part of the problem

Yes, he is the only one I think has common sense about everything going on in the U.S. it's not that hard Obama!! He has a good point about Iraq he said in one of his quotes
"Iraq has done no harm to us and doesn't even have a real military: They are no threat to the U.S.! This war is simply about money and power for the government and global interests. Thousands of U.S. troops and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis have died. Ron Paul will end this foolish war!" "9/11 had nothing to do with Iraq. 15 of the 19 (hijackers) came from Saudi Arabia so their our bosom buddies and we're their best friends. It's time American soldiers quit being killed and it's time for us to quit killing a lot of other people who have not attacked us" - Ron Paul
Vote RON PAUL 2012!!!!!

Yes he is right.
Not just the additional cost listed, but he is also taking money from medicare (old and disabled people) to give it to, among others, illegal aliens. That part of the "cost" doesn't even show up in the estimated trillions it will cost.
Did you know that Canada has a cancer death rate 16% higher than the US? It's because you can't get in on a timely basis to get treatment.

Well government run health care is suppose to be "free" But nothing is ever free. All it is gunna do is add tax raises to the people who can afford it. (the rich) But Ron Paul is very right. Why spend more money when you have none! The U.S. is already in recession and heading towards depression if we keep it up. The doctor patient ratio will decrease and even though the health care will be affordable to the poor, doesn't mean that they will be treated in time. It's like taking a ticket and waiting for your number to be called.

It will be much more expensive than they are projecting. I think they assume that people will only use it when really sick but they get a cough they are going to run to the nearest hospital and say I have lung cancer and each time they run there for a cough, runny nose, headache its going to cost money.

Of course Paul is right. He is also right to suggest that the Dems, if they pursue with this plan, should cut spending elsewhere instead of more borrowing and printing more.
Ron Paul suggest that the Dems end the wars to fund their healthcare reform. If the Dems actually practiced what they preached, they would welcome his idea.
