Is the phrase "middle end" proper grammar (high end, low end, middle end)?
I feel that the phrases "high end" and "low end" have become entrenched as acceptable slang to use even in journalistic writing.
However I never know what to do when I need to say anything involving the middle. The middle is not actually an "end", it's in the middle.
How would you more experienced writers phrase, "low to middle end" better? Or would you just do it that way?
The best I can come up with is something like "Low to Mid Level"
Thought so, it didn't sound correct at all - just wanted the community's input. Thanks!

No, middle end is not correct. Mid-level or average would work.

Depends on what the High End refers to; jobs might be different than high end automobiles. Here are some thoughts on the middle "area" of your question. It cant be an "end" since the middle refers to the congruent section bordered by ends.

Middle level
Middle of the road
Mid level

"Low to mid level" sounds fine. Middle end just isn't logical for the reason you pointed out.

Hmmm...I would use "low to mid-range" or "mid-level" as you mentioned. Middle end is inaccurate.
