My dog's keep on barking & others..?

Ok, so, i have a silky terrier

He's five months, and i had him for his fifth month at my house..

Well i just got him a new crate today and put it on the first floor family room and all of the bedrooms are on the second and the third floor..

I take him for a walk twice a day for about 20 minutes (more than enough for and silky terrier) and he never rests in the house as well.

But when it's even at night, he won't sleep and would keep barking, not just because he got a new crate today but he use to bark when we didn't have a crate and just let him hang out in our family room.

Sometimes we thought that it was because he was distracted by the noise from outside (although I, as a human, couldn't hear anything) but then when i went down cause of his excessive barking, he just straightly went to sleep.

I've tried all those kong toys, fav. chew toys, fav. beds method but those wouldn't grab his attention. and if i ever tried to crate train him, as he didn't seem to show any interest in food, i didn't know what was best for him that could grab his attention..

And another thing is that he seems more tired and sleepy in the mornings than in the evenings.. is there a way to make him do the opposite, like making him be more active in the morning rather than evenings?

Thank you!

Get him out and walk him in the mornings. 2- 20 minute walks may not be enough exercise for him, it's not just the walking, but the mental stimulation he needs. Also try some puzzle toys with high grade treats hidden in it, try hotdog bits or chicken. My dog doesn't like doggie treats, but she responds well to the hotdogs and chicken.

well he's a young pup so he's probably scared and he's tired in the morning because he's been up all night barking so if you want you could put the crate in your room so he knowes some1 is there or put a tranquilizer in hi food so he sleeps at night. hope this helps. also try 2 keep him quiet with toys!

    Hi,

It's in a dog's nature to bark. They enjoy barking, and they bark for many reasons. They will bark when they want something, when they are playing, when they are establishing their territory, when they are frightened or when they are annoyed. The first step towards controlling excessive barking is to understand the specific reasons behind it. Here's more info:

Well to help with the barking you should try a zap collar....it worked on my dog...and then maybe after getting zapped for barking he'd just go and lay down and go to sleep. This would allow you to sleep and him too.
