Do liberals need to study what the founders intent was?

Some one on here said the job of the government is to take care of all people. Do they not understand our Founders, who were smarter than any politician of today, wanted as small of a government with little if any private intrusion as possible?

Here are some quotes to ponder on:

“…a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.” – Thomas Jefferson

This was the intent for the government of the United States of America to keep the peace and settle disputes and to stay out of the way and out of the pocketbooks of the American people. Man, we sure have “progressed”.

“The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government — lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” – Patrick Henry

I think government schools have done more to destroy this gold nugget. I wonder how many people think the Constitution enumerates the rights of the people when, in fact, the Constitution enumerates the limitations of government in regards to the rights of the people. And how many think the government should lend a “helping hand” when truth be told that extended hand is the same one that will hold you down.

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” – Thomas Jefferson

Maybe all those in favor of Socialized Healthcare should read that one. Ronald Reagan, while not a founding father, put it this way, “Nations crumble from within when the citizenry asks of government those things which the citizenry might better provide for itself.” What a brilliant understanding of the role of government and human nature.

“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.” – Ben Franklin

Update:

wow smarter they do, and you see alot of them coming here for care, or at least those who can. How many Americans go there for there advancements in medicine?

Update 2:

so zap you say leave it in the Supreme court where interpretation belongs. Then are you standing up against those Justices who want to legislate not interpret?

How can you possibly expect the libs to study the constitution, when they have proven that they can't even read. I show you the stimulus bill, and now the healthcare bill. Seems like some of them at least would at least attempt to read it before blindly signing it.

Nobody is taking anything out of contents except for the ones who really did not do their research. The real founders of the U.S. look it up for once and you will see it was not the republicans, nor the tea parties, nor a few others I could mention. The true founders goes way back before many was ever born. What gets me is when I hear of stuff like this and everybody that mentions it,never really researched that far back or has been using what others has repeated in doing a playwright for people to buy into. It goes to the beginning of our history. Check it out. Many says a lot when it is time to put democracy back in order from being taken out. Democracy is always suppose to be done and kept in our world in have declarations to come about with changes that are needed for the people. It was not only Americans that was the founders of the U.S. there was also others and together made it the U.S.

If "that government is best which governs the least," what does "least" mean? It means that government should be rigidly limited to those functions that only the government can perform. Otherwise government will inevitably expand until it runs everything. That is why Thomas Jefferson described "a wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouths of labor the bread it has earned."

People can’t live with change if there's not a changeless core inside them. The key ability to change is a changeless sense of who you are, what you are about, and what you value. This solid foundation is our constitution and bill of rights. Obama states that these are negative attributes and that they say nothing of what the state or government should do or is responsible to do on your behalf. Wrong. That is the purpose of the 10th amendment, and a primary style of attack used to destroy the specific amendment designed to limit governments power hungry nature. Once gone, the rest will crumble away.

We must educate ourselves on these topics. The media will no longer do it on our behalf. And liberals need to at least make the attempt to observe the forefathers intent. Read their writings. Learn of their education and interests. Not just merely spout off the teachings of liberal professors on liberal campuses with liberal agendas. There is clearly another perspective. But, I doubt they care about that.

You can't base a system of government on the intent of any laws....you base it on facts that support a clear definition of what the law is and how it is enforced. Imagine how many more Civil Wars we'd have if we could all pretend that we knew what someone else was thinking 200 years ago. Now, interpretating that definition as applied to individual circumstances, however, is whole other story that is best left in the hands of the Supreme Court, where our Consitution says it belongs... DUH!!!!

Times and circumstances certainly haved changed. It's a shame so many people have abandoned these critical principles upon which our nation was founded and prospered.
