Big fan of Buddy Holly but alas, I was 6 at the time. I have done a lot of reading up on his life and it was almost like a slated tragedy. I think it was meant to be that he, Valens, Richardson and the pilot died but as I understand it, the pilot was fairly new to the game of flying.

No, but I live abt. 30 miles south of Clear Lake (Surf Ballroom) and every year they have a winter concert where people from all over the world still go there for the reunion, in spite of the usual negative-degree-weather.

That must be some good (and bad) times to reminisce! It was a tragic night for his fans and all who live around this area also.

I never got to see Buddy Holly perform live. 50 years ago I was still a teenager at home. A friend of mine moved to Lubbock, Texas many years later, and I went out for a visit. He said he would show me the Buddy Holly statue erected in honor of him. We rode all over Lubbock for hours, and went back to the hotel I was staying in to eat dinner. I looked out the window of the restaurant, and there was the statue in the court yard...lol
