Serious question concerning gender for women from a male...?

Just yesterday at my local library a very curious thing was brought to my attention. Let me very briefly elaborate. The men's lavatory being under repair, all patrons were directed to use the female facilities. While inside, I noticed a very prominent sign displayed which stated that any destruction of Library property will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and that the premises are continuously monitored.

This sign is absent and has always been absent from the men's lavatory.

I mentioned this to a girlfriend of mine later in the day and she was shocked. In the course of our conversation it was revealed that in many of the restaurants we dine, bars we drink, book- shoppes we frequent, these signs always appear in the female restrooms but not in the male ones.

So, my question is in all seriousness, and pardon my abruptness, but are you all a bunch of friggin' closet vandals or something? Please help me to understand. Thanks.

Oh, yes. In ladies' rooms, we all go Viking. We pillage, burn, steal the furniture, rip out the fixtures, sacrifice men and farm animals, splatter the walls with the blood of our enemies.

It's a little secret you didn't know about us women. We're all closet Visigoths.

The sign "any destruction of Library property will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and that the premises are continuously monitored" is prominently displayed in restaurant restrooms? Wow, those librarians mean business...

But seriously, as someone with a very small bladder who drinks A LOT of water to stay hydrated, I've been into a lot of public restrooms and have never seen any signs alluding to "destruction of public property."

I think your girlfriend is pulling your leg.....

Do you blame all wrong-doing on the Vandals? Some of your respondents seem to be bashing the Visigoths and Vikings too. Are you all just a bunch of bigots!? Bashing on a particular ethnic group is sign of a weak mind. Your parents should have taught you that. Apparently we have a long way to go before racism is erased from our societies. At least in the United States we now have a half-Irish president.

And besides, Prometheus, what were YOU doing in a library anyway? Hmm?

In all seriousness...the men's bathroom was being repaired, which means someone probably took the sign down and put it in the girls bathroom for safe keeping, then, when the guys bathroom is finished...it will go back to it's rightful spot in the guys bathroom.

I'm kidding! Girls can be pretty destructive, too...but, I've never seen a sign like that in a public bathroom. Lol...I did see one on a toilet paper dispenser that said "This is not a chair"...

Yes, I have a difficult time refraining from dismantling things and sticking them in my knickers while I am out.

Honestly, I don't think women are any more likely to vandalize things than men. I have never seen any of these signs in places I frequent. Perhaps certain establishments in your area have had difficulty with female customers in particular, which is why these signs are posted where they can see them.

You're my kind of woman kiddo but I would not go over board on the "objectified" thing. I open the car door for my wife all the time, not because she's my "pet" but simply to honor her. I do it with buddy friends as well. It has nothing to do with equality issues- at least not in my mind. If women believe that when a guy holds the door open for her, or allows her to go ahead of him, or opens the car door, or pays for the meal that it is somehow a sign that she is a pet or weaker then she has issues. She is not appreciating the intent of a guy trying to honour her not because she is a woman but because she is a person.

Let me think of how to put this.

Women are known to carry big purses and such so therefore they are often more apt to shoplift, or be an accomplice in such a crime. Another thing is that a lot of women are easily persuaded to do things, so therefore....

Well you get the picture. Men are vandals as well, but women are more apt to being persuaded into something, or being capable of carrying it off.

In all seriousness women spend more time in restrooms than men do. for most men it is just pee and wash hands and get out. some might spend more time but not on the average.

Women on the other hand spend time talking, and can be more emotional. Also women's rooms tend to have tampon dispensers in them that are not kept stocked and in good working order. And yes there have been problems of some women going to restrooms and letting out some aggression before going back out, I am not saying this is all women just that it does happen.

writing on stall walls occurs in both men's and women's but believe it or not more in women's.

One other factor is trans-genders who can be much more emotional than women due to hormone shots do use women's rooms and you seriously do not wish to upset them I would rather deal with 5 women on PMS than one TS who just had a tiff with bf.

And though men's rooms are much more of a hassle to clean women's rooms do tend to get damaged more than men's rooms

Oh and rarely are those signs in men's rooms and believe it or not many of those signs in women's rooms are on the tampon machines.

Well, I wouldn't know. I never go wee-wee or perform any of the other gross bodily functions that plague lesser people. Even if I did, it would not involve property destruction. (I have never seen such signs posted in a woman's bathroom.) And it would smell like roses and cherry Kool Aid.

on the average more women then men use the public bathrooms . i think it is partly due to finances that signs are bought and hung in only one so it would be the one most used. also most men don't bother washing hands, primping , spending enough time in a bathroom where they would be apt to see the sign. most guys i know wouldn't care less what a sign says and take it as a dare , where as it might make a woman think twice.

Why do you think women always go to the restroom in groups? It is much easier to destroy the facilities when there are several of us. Even the Vikings knew this! You have to hit your target fast and hard, then get out before they know what happened.

On a side note: I wonder how they are "continuously monitored"?
