Going Back To Medical School After Dropping Out?

My husband dropped out of medical school 6-7 years ago (because of personal problems) and now he wants to go back. Whats the chances a medical school will let you back in after dropping out?

He'll be welcomed back by most schools. He won't be able to resume where he left off, of course. But he'll have to repeat the MCAT, as the score is only valid for three years. I suggest he take numerous practice exams to see how well he's retained his knowledge. He might need some refresher courses.

If he made it into a US medical school and he doesn't feel like repeating the MCAT, he can always apply to one of the better Caribbean medical schools. Although there is a stigma about going offshore, the top four schools are readily accepted in the US and he wouldn't have a problem obtaining a residency.

It might be hard for him to find a medical school seeing as he quit/dropped out of his last school. Expect to be wait listed, but still life is all about second chances. Tell him to give it his all, and best of luck!
