The Allmans, hands down. The Allman Brothers were the only band to have four guitar players rank in Rolling Stone's Top 100 guitar players of all time; Duane Allman, Dickie Betts and the two current guitarists, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes (#23 and in my opinion the best guitar player alive today, but that's another story). The Allmans have been playing music for 40 years and still going strong. Their best stuff is anything recorded live, in concert.

  • Well, I have some street cred on this issue, because I was a Roadie for The Doobie Bros on their 1987 Reunion Tour. And I gotta say... the Allmans were greater by FAR. Why? Duane! he was one of the top 5-10 Rock Guitarists ever.

BQ: Doobs ~ Minute By Minute ...... Allmans ~ Eat A Peach

BQ2: Doobs: Black Water .......... Allmans: Little Martha

I've always found the Allman Brothers highly underrated, especially Duane. The Doobie Brothers have just always been on the fence for me.

    the Doobies

I saw Michael McDonald make his Doobie Brothers debut in front of an audience of 18,000 at LSU Assembly center in Baton Rouge 1977.

Louisiana's LeRoux was the opening act.

the rush to get in was terrible they only opened one gate and all the people at the back surged forward crushing everyone at the front.

it was stupid & could have been avoided by moving a few barricades the cops were idiots standing around doing nothing

    Black Water
