What happened in that baseball game decades ago where the announcer said "I cannot believe, what I just saw"..?
This saw a really long time ago. They kept showing commercial on the MLB network about games and its history and it frequently plays the part where the announcer in the game says "I cannot believe what I just saw"? What exactly happened in the game when that announcer said that? When was the game? What team was playing? What happened and what play was it?
and also,,, Who was that announcer from back in the 70s who would always yell "Holy Cow!"?
how extreme was this particular thing that happened for him to say that?

Former Yankees SS turned broadcaster Phil Rizzuto always said "Holy Cow"

The injured and hobbling Gibson, later named the NL MVP, makes his only Series appearance with a pinch-hit, 2-run, 2-out shot for the underdog Dodgers, marking the first walk-off Series homer by a team that trailed at the time. Oakland's José Canseco had provided all his team's scoring with a 2nd-inning grand slam. Jack Buck, who called the game for CBS Radio, exclaimed "I don't believe what I just saw!" as Gibson circled the bases.

The player's name was Kirk Gibson. He came in to pinch hit in the ninth, although he hadn't played at all in the game. He couldn't run do to bad knees and legs. Vin Scully of the Dodgers was the announcer. It was two out in the ninth of the World Series. It was in 1988.
Harey Carey would say "Holy Cow!" at the slightest incident. Always at homeruns.

It was Jack Buck's call of Kirk Gibson's game winning home run in the 1988 World Series. It was a huge deal because Gibson was so injured he didn't even come out for pregame introductions, no one thought he would play

Kurt Gibson hit a game winning homerun in the worldseries or something like that

Jack Buck in the 1988 world series, the Dodgers weren't supposed to play Kirk Gibson, who had injured his knees in the series. He pinch hit in the world series and hit an improbable homer to walk off win.

I don't know I wasn't there but it must have been awesome because the word 'bloody' was classed as a swear word back then so he must have been extremely in awe or excited :)
