the main inportant element approximately steerage wheel place is that your hands wrap around from the rear(no longer even very lots) and in elementary terms the thumb wraps around from the front. so some distance as hand place... 8 and four, because 2005 has been the BMV/DMV 's #a million favored technique, yet in elementary terms for straightaways. From 1999 to 2005 they counseled 9 and 3, and in the previous airbags they recomended 10 and a pair of. The 8 and four place is greater ideal than 9 and 3 fo rmultiple motives: - interior the progression of something dashing in the direction of you from the two element, you may turn the steerage wheel extra without regripping the wheel. - this grip is the commencing up place for the main secure steerage wheel turning technique, push-pull-feed. This replaced what exchange into the BMV/DMV's favored steerage wheel turning technique, 'hand-over-hand', which exchange into favored from 1930'something till 2005. - it quite is way less probably which you may help the load of your hands on the wheel ( extraordinarily while checking the blindspot to the remarkable) - it is bodily much less tiring, fatigue is just one mnore distraction at superb.

I usually have my left hand at 12 and my right hand on the six speed shifter.......

I was taught way back to use 10-2 or 3-9 but now I was told with airbags we need to keep hands lower on the wheel.

2 and 10, and pull the wheel with the hand in the direction of the intended turn, letting it slide through the opposite hand; this is all on the assumption you have power steering.

I guess people don't read other people's questions before posting their own.

10 o'clock and 2 o'clock was what i was taught in drivers ed many years ago.

Now I hear that because of air bags you should place your hands at 8 and 4. This places your arms below the air bag if it deploys so they are not broken / injured.
