Do religious people spend their whole lives living in the past?

Even the new testament is pretty damned old.

Update:

Heaven Bound: I love how you preach the virtue of not thinking.

    No they don't

I am a Christian but more spiritual than religious.

I have religious people in my family aunts, older cousins and uncles.

They drive cars, use computers and the internet.

They have a understanding of modern technology.

They aren't Amish or anything they just feel a strong connection to the lessons taught in the bible.

I like many of them too but I also feel that some of the things in the bible are hyperboles to make it more exciting.

But none the less they don't live in the past.

Sankofa-look to the past to enhance your future.

KNOWING THE PAST AND LIVING IN IT IS TWO THINGS

    Matt.1:1-17;

    N. T. done year 98 to 100 CE, goes back to O. T. Genesis, Abraham

son #20 in the genealogy of Jesus, born 4067 years ago, had the covenant, 3992 years ago, died 3892 years ago. Gen.25:7,9.

David Son #34 was born 3116 years ago, became king 3086 years ago, and died 3046 years ago. 1Ki.2:10,11.

Judah kings ended at Babylon with Daniel and son #48, year 3460,

[ 606 BCE, 14 generations before Christ, born year 4064, age 2 at, Matt.2:11,13,16; O. T. Bible years end year 4066, Luke 16:16, 17; the word is forever, Jesus baptized age 30, Luke 3:21-23, Matt.3:16; at age 33 1/2, year 31 1/2 CE, Jesus ascended, John 3:13-16; Acts 2:27-35 ]; now at 2009 CE, Judah kings ended 2615 years ago, there will be no king until king Jesus at his 2nd coming with firstfruits, 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; first resurrected that are priest of God and Christ at Rev.20:1-6, Satan is in the pit for the 1000 year reign.

Knowing now at 2009 CE, requires knowing what happened the 4066 years before. Knowing the genealogy of Jesus to year 3460, that was 2615 years ago [ when the time of the end is from 2520 years to 2670 years after year 3460 ], is very important. Mankind does have a history, we have a short life full of troubles and we die, Jesus tells us why, Heb.2:9,14; 1Cor.15:26, Heb.9:14-17; John 3:16; 17:3. The rest is up to each individual. We are given all but the day and the hour that only God alone knows.

No, I actually do my best to live each day as it comes and be grateful for it. The past is over and I can't redo it, the future is not promised so I'm just thankful to have this day. Yes, the Bible is old, it is a history of our world combined with powerful help to live the best lives we can.

    I don't think so.

A great deal of the controversy between religious groups and non-religious people seems to be because religious people insist on living their daily lives according to their convictions. They believe that love and morality are relevant to our lives in this day and time, and that the God that they worship is just as alive and real today as He ever was.

Far from living in the past, religious people are concerned about the present, and have hope for the future.

When as individuals we live in the past we are called neurotics. Now we see there are neurotics as groups too .

Not only neurotics there are psychotics too, who do not listen to any type of logic and reasoning when it comes to their faiths. So they lie as much as possible when it comes to their faiths. They are totally in the past. To them "There is a creation; therefore there must be a Creator too" . They cant see why, before everything, they ought to use the WORD 'creation' to the phenomena seen.

They use computers, mobile phones, televisions, electricity, modern medicine and more, and then have the cheek to complain that science is evil. How lame is that?
