When is the right time to pierce your daughters ears?

My husband and I are debating this and I just wanted to see other peoples views. We don't even have a daughter, but are hoping for one soon.

When the daughter can come ask you for it herself.

Why would a baby want their ears pierced? uncomfortable to sleep on,they could pull it out, they don't understand the pain and it looks tacky, it's a way for parents to avoid anyone mistaking there baby for a boy.

Source(s): 1 month old daughter that will remain ear piercingless until she asks for them.
  • I am going to pierce my daughter's ears probably before she turns one. She is two months old now. Some say wait until they can ask, but if you get them done when they are a baby, they forget they have them and don't mess with them as much. The right time is up to you both as parents. It depends on what your views are. I say do it while they're babies or young anyway. :)

We got our daughter's ears pierced when she was 2 & 1/2 months old. We did it early so she wouldn't mess with them. When I was a little girl I had to get mine done 3 times because I would mess with them, they got infected & I wouldn't let my mom clean them. It was horrible & I didn't want to have to go through that with my daughter. If she decides later that she doesn't want them we can always take them out.

I took my daughter for her birthday. She is 3. I always said once she decided she wanted them I'd take her. I thought it would be later than 3 years old though. Lol. She did fine with it. She didn't even cry and she loooves her earrings. She has had them for a couple months now and she still shows them off to everyone.

I let my daughter decide and when she was 4 years old she told me she wanted to have them done. She was really good about it even after the woman that worked there got the gun jammed and kept tugging on her ear. If I am blessed with another daughter I will let her decide too.

I would do it when she asks, only because my cousins little girl had her ears pierced at 1 yr, and by the time she was 5, the holes were so uneven that they had to get it re done. This is only one example, so don't let this answer influence you too much.

i personally got my ears peirced when i turned 10. i thing this was a verey good age because it gave me something to look forward to. i would keep asking my mom to get them done but she always told me on my tenth birthday. i am so glad she did because that tenth birthday was one of my most special bdays so far. i was also old enough to feel that the gun was only a little pinch and it barely even hurt. so i recommend waiting till she is a little bit older so it becomes a special memory of hers and something she can remember doing
