Anyone recommend Mirena IDU?
I am getting it placed in about a week and a half...
Anyone recommend it or advise against it?

If you can deal with the initial pain, I say go for it. It really does hurt getting it put in. I just got one last month, and I was amazed that my period still came right on time. The cramps feel different, like there's something poking me, but I've been told by many people that that feeling goes away when your uterus gets used to the IUD. Even though they feel different, I can already tell my cramps aren't as bad as they were before the IUD. I used to get REALLY bad cramps! But this seems to help them.
The mirena is supposed to make your periods get shorter and lighter, which is definitely another bonus, and 20 percent of women who have it stop getting periods at all after about a year.
Personally, I think it's a great invention, and I really like mine. It hurt to get put in and it was uncomfortable for the first couple weeks, but now I have birth control 24/7 that I never even have to THINK about for 5 years! Totally worth it! I can't even feel it anymore! You do have to reach in and check the strings once a month or so to make sure it's stll there, but these things don't move around much, and if it did, you would know it!
I say go for it :)

When they initially put it in it was uncomfortable, I have a high tolerance for pain. I had some cramping and some bleeding for a few days. I also spotted for about 4 weeks after having it put in. On the bright side it does not bother me at all anymore and my periods are no longer than a day or two.

i HATE mine. but i also suck at taking meds on time. so for me, it seems to be the best option. but when i breastfeed and my uterus contracts, i can feel the stupid thing!! it feels so crampy and gross. and having it inserted SUCKED so much. it hurt so badly. i wish i had known all of this before i got mine. but i don't want any more babies just yet! lol.
also, i have stopped having periods. i've had mine in since the 3rd week of february. the only thing is i know when i'm "supposed" to have a period, because i get minimal cramps. i don't even feel the need to take meds they're so light, i just hate that i can feel the iud. but i used to have horrific cramps so bad that i would have to stay home in bed all day.
