I don't think it's "pride" to not beg. I think it's called "self reliance" and to some of us it is a very important quality. A virtue, even.

for some people the ability to be self reliant is all they have. There are people who are afraid to ask for help, people that are too proud to ask for help, and people who use difficult times as a chance for self discovery. It isn't wrong in any way.
