Do you consider Plan B to be an abortion pill?

Does it stop sperm from meeting the egg or does it just stop it from growing? Would you consider it to be like an abortion in pill form?

No. Plan B is not an abortion pill.

    From the FDA:

    3. How does Plan B work?

Plan B works like other birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. Plan B acts primarily by stopping the release of an egg from the ovary (ovulation). It may prevent the union of sperm and egg (fertilization). If fertilization does occur, Plan B may prevent a fertilized egg from attaching to the womb (implantation). If a fertilized egg is implanted prior to taking Plan B, Plan B will not work.

No, Plan B isnt an abortion pill. If an egg hasnt been fertilized then it stops the sperm from meeting the egg. If there is already a baby starting to form then it will not bother it. So no i dont consider plan b to be an abortion pill since it doesnt harm the baby if there is a baby.

When it works by not allowing a fertilized egg to implant, it is an abortion pill.

This is because it is illogical to say something is life * here at this point, but not * there at that point. It either begins at conception, or nobody is human. Life, humanity, aren't things that can be determined by human opinion or desire, it only is, or isn't.

When it acts to prevent ovulation, or prevents the sperm from meeting the egg, it is not an abortion pill, simply a contraception.

However, since there is no way for the person taking it to know for sure what is happening to her body, then I personally would not take it nor recommend it for anyone else. If we women really want to 'be in control of our bodies', then shouldn't we know what is happening before we take a pill?

It does not stop a baby from growing if it is already implanted, so no, it is absolutely NOT the abortion pill. There is an abortion pill available, though. Plan B just isn't it.

It works by thickening the mucous to prevent the sperm from traveling. It also works by preventing ovulation.

do some research. it stops pregnancy from occurring, like birth control pills. (it's actually just a high dose of birth control pills) if you were already pregnant it would not work.

  • i belive it stops the sperm from meeting the egg. but i am not sure

    good luck

It doesn't kill an already formed baby...it prevents one from being formed at all...just like birth control.
