It is a pity that the religion that brought that concept of ONE into existence has to give explanation whether it follows one or not.
First of all, it was Vedas who gave the concept that God is one thousands of years ago."
Mr. Zakir Naik, one of the most renowned Muslim preachers has accepted that Islam and many other religions got their principle of One from Vedas.
See the Vedic verse, "Ishwar ekoasti, Dwitiya naasti naasti naasti."
God is one. They are not two, not at all, not at all and not at all.
Actually Hinduism gives the systematic explanation that "one" has divided itself in many and how this many will finally become one.
First of all there was only that ultimate power . Hinduism called it "OM", "ParaBrahma", "SadaShiva", "MahaVishnu"
When the desire of expanding this universe has come in its mind. IT has divided itself into three forms.
What is required for a creation?
A creator, so the power has become "Brahmaa"
A preserver, who can give the substance for survival, so the power has become "Vishnu".
Nothing is eternal in his creation. Everything must come to an end. So the power took a destructive or catastrophic manifestation
Called "Shiva".
When human came into existence, the Power took many Avatars and forms frequently in order to preach us or fulfill our desires.
This is how many qualities and forms are present for us to help us on every step.
The power has become "Rama" to teach us how to live a virtuous life.
The power has become "Hanuman" to teach us how to live a celibate and dedicated life.
In order to fulfill our earthly desires, it took the form of Lakshmi, Kuber and many others.
But altogether they are the representative of that ONE.
IN HINDUISM he has opened many paths that lead to only one that is the "One Omnipresent God"
Let's take an example:-
When you came to the earth, you saw a woman; you call it "Mom"
Another woman i.e. "Grandmother"
"Sister", "Aunties"
Finally you got a "wife"
They can be expressed by a single word "Woman".
Why do you call them "Mom", "sister", "Darling"?
This is because your relation with them but finally they are woman.
In the same way, no matter we worship him in many of his manifestations, for us he is one.
Hinduism is a complete religion because it doesn't only cater the concept of ONE but it also explains the infinite qualities of God.
That is why there are million of names are given to God according to his qualities.
“Vedas started it with ONE and then took to Infinite and again brought it to One having said "Neti Neti" means there is no end no end.”
Actually when God transformed himself into many forms and made this gigantic universe, it is very necessary to know its infinite qualities
As much as we can know according to our mind.
That is what Hinduism says, Go for
1) Sakar (With Shape):- Beginning of worshiping, in which manifestations of God are worshiped in the form of sculptures but as I have already told, it also means worshiping one.
2) Nirakar (Without Shape):- When you become spiritual enough to see God everywhere and there remains only two for you i.e. you and Him
In Nirakar I mean again worshiping one or infinite.
Think of a tree, it has ONE stem or Many branches but altogether you will call it "a tree"
So whether it is stem (Nirakaar) or Branches (Sakar), both are like worshiping Tree (That ONE GOD).
So until and unless we can't go with the theory of his many and infinite qualities along with One , your spiritual quest won't be over.

Lol @ catty.... actually if you look at the sanskrit and vedic scriptures, you will see that Hindus also believe in the concept of one God. They believe that this ONE God is represented in many forms. In other words, you can see God in anything and everything. See a similarity there? Would you call yourself paranoid now? Ah ignorance really is sheer bliss. Badmasha - The Hindu Pundits and Scholars agree that the Vedas and other Hindu religious scriptures prohibit idol worship. So Lord knows what your teachers are gonna tell you. But good luck anyway :)

Yes they do believe that God is one.... the different deities represent the different manifestations of God...
and it's most certainly not anything like the mythological Greek gods... a Hindu that says there is more than one God, I honestly have no comment for them..

Yes. There is no doubt about it.
Just as several hundreds of jewellery can be carved from a piece of gold, the various deity are manifestations of the same supreme power.
It is called Para Bramham and it is denoted by the letter OM.

No. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion like Paganism. They believe in many, many Gods(i've heard it's 3 million from one source). Alot like the Greek God's though, there is a 'hierarchy'. Some Gods more important than others, and etc.

Yes !!!!
The Hindu philosophy has one great difference with that of abrahmic faiths.
In hinduism God does not create - He manifests himself as universe
So hindus believe in one God they call him Brahmm or Aum and this god manifests as a trinity of
Brahmaa - vishnu - Mahesh (creator, preserver & destroyer)
these 3 gods manifests as different demi gods to help in their work
The One God Brahmm /Aum - is known and worshipped by all hindus, and they do not have any idol, or image or form or Temple for him
Hindus see that one God in all creations

I've heard it described as God being a government. If you want to renew your driving license, you go to the DMV. If you want to get a birth certificate, a death certificate, building plans, etc, you go to other departments. But in the end, it's all the same government. Just like that, there's only one God, but various aspects of him/her that we pray to, since that's more accessible for us.

No, Hindus have many Gods, sort of like Greeks. Indra is the king of Gods, with Vishnu and Brahma being the other important ones. There are also many Goddesses.
I should know, seeing as I'm a Hindu !

One God, numerous forms
