What is Integrative Biology?

Can anyone explain integrative biology in depth?

All I see is "well it's very different from cellular/molecular bio"

I'd like some details. It seems like it would be a really great

choice for me but before I take the plunge, I'd like to know

some more information.

Is it interesting to study?

Are there plenty of career options with it as a major?

What is it similar to based on what you studied in middle/high school?

Spill EVERYTHING you know. Thanks.

I am not an expert. I think the field requires you to integrate cellular, molecular biology to higher level biology fields such as bacteriology, neurobiology, marine biology, zoology, and system level biology. Integrative biology links specific cellular level activities to organism level behaviors.

If you want to study it, then you need to take a variety of biology courses and maybe some biochemistry. It seems very interesting since you get to cover many topics.

Career options wise, it is like all biology majors. You either work in research, teach, or go into the medical field.

I recent graduated with a degree in neuroscience. College biology is much more detailed and advanced than high school introductory biology courses.

    Good luck.
