Hi, I'm Kellyn. I'm 16, almost 17. I'm homeschooled. I love reading. I try to consume as much information as possible and know as much as I possibly can. My biggest insecurity is lack of intelligence. I feel as if I should know everything. But, that know-it-all part of me allows me to be a great Yahoo!-Answerer :)

  • Not enough space on Macbook Pro for Sims 3?

I know this is kind of a trivial thing to be concerned about because I absolutely love my new Mac but I was really hoping to be able to install/play Sims 3 and the expansions that I have for it.

The specs say I have 4GB and the game requires at least 6? I just find it kind of hard to believe that such an expensive computer wouldn't be able to run a sims game...? Am I missing something?

I looked through some forums and everyone seemed to think it would run fine but if there's not nearly enough space for it, how would that work?

I'm just wondering if I should try to get something else or if there's a way to make this work?

I know you can install more memory but apparently the maximum is 8GB and even that doesn't really seem like enough.

    Advise, please!

  • Is there a place you can go to live in a different time period?

I know that sounds a bit odd, but to further explain:

I'm a huge fan of the show, Downton Abbey. I absolutely love the period that it's set in. The clothing, decor, and architecture. And also the sophisticated nature of the people.

After watching the show for a while, I wondered if there was a way to live that life without appearing completely mental to society. For instance, I couldn't wear a dress and hat like the women of that period out in public because everyone would think I'm insane. I also like the idea of communicating via letters but it would be difficult to cut myself off from technology completely.

So anyway, my question is- is there such a thing as a community (for lack of a better word) where everyone walks and talks a certain way, wears the clothes you would see in a period-drama like Downton Abbey, and so on...?

  • Is it normal to still like him after so long?

To make a long story short, my best guy friend tried to ask me out about.. four years ago. I was scared because I had never dated anyone before and avoided him. We finally decided to forget about it and continue being friends because he would like me and I wouldn't like him, and vice versa, all throughout our friendship and it was just too complicated.

Unfortunately, I still like him. We've been friends for SO long, we get along really well, we're like a perfect match. All of our mutual friends say that we make a great couple and I agree. But I have no idea how he feels at this point. It was so long ago that he liked me. I have no idea if he still does or if I'm completely insane for not being over him...?

Idk if I should talk to him about it or what. I just don't want to give up on something that could be a great relationship. I feel like there's hope... He still flirts and acts interested. He always asks me to hang out first and if I say no, he always wants to know why and if it's not a good enough reason he insists that I come over anyway. Lol.

Basically, we're still really good friends. I feel like that's a good step towards possibly dating in the future. But I might be delusional... What do you think? Is it silly for me to think there's still a chance of us dating? Is it possible could still like me? Should I talk to him about it or have a friend casually bring it up...? What to do what to do...

Thanks so much for your help~

  • Trying to remember an old art show for kids?

When I was in elementary school, our art class mostly consisted of watching these videos of what I THINK was a TV show... it may have been straight-to-video... I'm not sure. But I believe the theme song started out with the host of the show climbing on top of a giant letter A and sitting there and introducing the show... Then there were various forms of art, like he went to a market once and got fruit so that he could draw the fruit... But sometimes it was more focused around animation, or painting, or sculpting...

The host, from what I can remember was kind of quirky and weird, and sort of looked like Richard Dreyfuss.....

I know this is totally obscure and it's really not a good description, but it's bothered me forever trying to think of this, so if you have any ideas- throw them out there

  • What might be preventing me from losing weight?

I'm 16 years old, 5'2 and 144 pounds (as of recently) and I've struggled with my weight for a few years now. I've tired different diets, nothing too serious, but I've never seen any results.

Most recently, I cut back to 1000-1300 calories a day (Previously I was eating around 1800) and I started walking a mile every day and/or going for a bike ride. Plus, eating more fruit and drinking lots of water.

The problem is, I've actually gained two pounds. Usually, I can maintain my weight, I just have trouble losing it, but now I've actually put on weight even though I've been dieting... I just don't get it...

Just wondering, is there any health problem/medical condition that might be preventing me from losing weight? I can rule out thyroid issues because I've had that tested. Also, I've wondered about having a really low metabolism... So that might be it...? But anyway-

    Any other ideas?

*Also, I'm not really looking for recommendations on any other diets I should try. I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing now. I'm just a bit frustrated that it's not working...

    Thanks- Kellyn

  • Scottish sayings.............?

I'm looking for things that people in Scotland would say differently than people would in America

Common things like, "Using the bathroom", greetings, things you say when your mad, etc...

Reason being, I'd like to perfect my Scottish accent and use it to fool people but I know that

there are certain things I should/shouldn't say because I would give it away.

Feel free to include pronunciation, Thank you! :)

  • Best way to grow hair FAST?

I've heard about all the little tricks like oil treatments, tugging on your hair, etc

but I'd like to see inches of growth in a few months. Is that possible?

I really hate having it short but only found this out after it was too late (I had already cut it)

I know there's stuff like Rogain for women? but that would just give me MORE hair right?

I just want it longer. and fairly quickly.

Anything you've tried or heard of?

    Thanks.

  • Best laptop you've used- Ideas?

I'll be getting a new laptop for Christmas and I have NO clue what I should get.

I'll use it mostly for school so being able to run computer programs is pretty important.

I'd also like to use it to surf the web.

I'd like something fast/smooth-running, fairly light (because right now I have a laptop from the stone-age), and something not outlandishly expensive. Nothing over $2,000.

If you have a laptop that works really well or you know of one, let me know. I'm open-minded.

    Thanks in advance.

  • My skin feels hot all the time?

I live in TN so It's not really hot or cold. Always pretty normal climate. But for some reason my skin always feels burning hot. I'm not sick. I rarely get colds. and it's not hot flashes or anything because I always feel pretty comfortable. People will shake my hand or put their hand on my arm and be like OH MY GOSH you feel like you're on fire.

What could this be? Medical problem? A normal thing?

    Thanks for your answers.

  • Does anyone find this immature?

I'll answer a question, come back to see who else has answered

and find people saying "kellyn, you are an idiot blah blah blah". It's unbelievable. It's not even that my answer is incorrect. It's that they don't agree with it. And when It's an opinion, and you viciously attack me for it, you end up looking a lot less intelligent than you say I am.

Insulting other members is a violation anyway. Why waste your time? What you don't know is that on the other side of the computer sits a 15 year old when you're probably some middle aged man with too much time on your hands.

  • Hamster bites.........?

I've heard that hamsters like to sit on their owners lap and watch (actually, LISTEN to) the TV. I'd like to give that a try but I've heard hamster bites really hurt! When I put my finger in there to talk to them they just lick it and playfully nibble. And taking them out is no problem. What I'm wondering is, If I let it crawl around will it just randomly chomp down? Do they mostly go for fingers?

Any information and tips is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Just FOUND two hamsters?

Well as crazy as it sounds, today I found two hamsters (both in separate critter trail cages) with a bag of supplies sitting on the side of the road.

Of course, I took them in. They looked hungry and hot since they were in the sun.

My question is, what can I do to bond with them?

I've got dogs and cats but I keep them outside. For some reason,

I'm still really jumpy about holding them and whatnot.

I have had a gerbil before but I'm not very familiar with hamsters.

I know the basics of taking care of them and the playing in the empty bathtub trick but is there anything else I should know?

weird little things like blowing on them? Haha I'm not sure.

They seem to kind of like that...?

    Thanks in advance!

*also, since I just found them, I'm not sure what kind they are

or even their gender. Not sure if that matters?

  • Tousle Me Softly herbal essences product?

My hair is kind of indescribable. If I just let it do it's thing

It goes crazy. It's not curly, wavy, or straight. It's just really poofy

and has big turns and dents in it. Very unattractive. I usually braid

it or straighten it but I'm tired of damaging it, I want it to grow!

My real question is, would Tousle Me Softly work for me?

My hair is shoulder length so I'm concerned it only looks good

    on longer/medium hair.

also, I heard the mouse makes your hair sorta.. hard?

If so, what product would you recommend to make it feel healthier?

  • Why do spiders bite you while you're asleep?

I know bees and wasps sting when you agitate them and usually

spiders (especially the larger ones) do too but why would they bite you

when you're lying there motionless? Do they get something out of

it like mosquitoes? It's it completely pointless? I'm curious because

I seem to be really sensitive to the bites and have had pretty violent reactions to them biting me while I'm asleep. (I have since sprayed our house with Raid and whatnot so I don't need advice) I'm just curious

to know why it happened. Thanks in advance-

  • Diabetes question....?

This might be a completely stupid question but why

can some diabetics eat sugar and others can't? Or am I just

misinterpreting things? My aunt is diabetic and sometimes when

she feels sick she'll get mini candy bars out of her purse and eat a few

or get a coke out of coke machine with high sugar content. I thought

this was strange because I've always been under the impression that

people with diabetes WEREN'T supposed to have sugar or at least

too much of it. She LOVES it. She bakes cookies and brownies all

the time..It just makes me wonder. If It seems I've been living under a rock, sorry, I truly have. I've always been a little uncomfortable with

    asking her about her condition.

  • Natural breast reduction?

    I'm 15 years old, 5'2, and wear a 32DDD.

I absolutely refuse to wear bathing suits because

I just look ridiculous. I also can't find any cute clothes

so I just throw on over sized t-shirts. My mom hates

that I feel this way but thinks that surgery is the wrong

way to go at my age (and I agree)

Are there any natural procedures? topical treatments?

anything besides exercise and surgery to make them go down?

*I AM exercising but haven't seen that "drastic drop" everyone

says I will have. It's also hard to exercise since they get in the way.

*Don't be a perv and say GUYS LIKE BIG BOOBS. because I'm

tired of the negative attention and just want to feel like the kid that I am. I'm mature but I DON'T want to look it.

Thanks in advance for any advice, personal stories...

  • What is Integrative Biology?

Can anyone explain integrative biology in depth?

All I see is "well it's very different from cellular/molecular bio"

I'd like some details. It seems like it would be a really great

choice for me but before I take the plunge, I'd like to know

    some more information.

    Is it interesting to study?

Are there plenty of career options with it as a major?

What is it similar to based on what you studied in middle/high school?

    Spill EVERYTHING you know. Thanks.
