If hunting was outlawed, would you still do it?

After reading DJ's new question made me wonder how it would be if things really got messed up. One of them being if hunting was outlawed or was majorly restricted or prices of tags were ridiculous. If they outlawed hunting, or majorly restricted it so most people couldn't do it or afford to do it. Would you still? I know this borders on pouching, but in a sense it doesn't too because we had already had the privilege before. I know the population could/would rise of some animals and become over populated so if we did "pouch" it wouldn't be any different than how we hunt now. Other than the people that do if for trophy and just sport. Not doing anything with the meat or animal than just hanging it for fun. You're thoughts?

I know the odds of this are slim but I want you opinions

Update:

This is about more of your own morals. Me, I would. About 1-2 deer a year (Bucks only), that's about it. Here in Western Oregon we have plenty of deer, finding them in the brush is the challenge .

Update 2:

I say it "border line poaching" because it me it is. You have a "privilege" the government says to hunt. To me God says I have the "right" to hunt. If the government takes privilege away for no good reason and I go hunt for food. I say it's borderline poaching. I think of poaching as more as when you kill without a tag for ONLY fun, sport, and trophy, now if you use that meat and you needed it or really could use it, say for your family I call that providing and you're doing nothing wrong; However government will say differently. I'm not trying to make this a debate, just stating my believes on this. I made this clear in a old question.

I would in a heart beat. If hunting was outlawed, then livestock farming would soon be outlawed too. I think that livestock farming (for meat) would be outlawed sooner.

If it wasn't for us hunters, our land would be in awful shape.

This is the dream of all anti-hunters.

However, if hunting were outlawed - people are going to get mad as hell when their moms, dads, sons, and daughters start getting killed in car accidents involving deer. Man has removed the natural predators. Now, tax money would need to be spent to hire government hunters - tax dollars now being spent to provide a service that once was free by hunters.

Same goes for the fox, coyote and wolf. There are places in Alaska where the snowfall has been too low for trappers to get out and run trap lines. The fox and coyote populations soared - and so did rabbies. In some towns - like St Mary in Alaska - residents were scared to walk from their home to car, or car to store or work office due to fox biting people.

    Think about it.

    * There is such a thing as the Letter of the Law, and the Spirit of the Law.* One does not always Obey the Letter of the Law: Sometimes it is only Right to Ignore the Letter of the Law, and go with the Spirit of the Law; which means its the Right thing to do even though the Letter of the Law says it isn't,* So if Hunting was ever Outlawed then I become an Outlaw according to the Letter of the law, but not the Spirit of the Law.* Many Laws are not worth the paper they are written on.* Think about it.*

Many anti hunters are misguided in their efforts as animal activists. Hunters are the one true form of conservation. A true hunter respects his/her environment to ensure that future generations get to enjoy the abundant wildlife in these United States as well as abroad. I have hunted all my life and never have I just wanted to "kill" something but rather harvest a food source that is better than any USDA inspected meat from the gocery store, that has been handeled by only my hands. I read on these posts about many true arguments for hunting. One does kinda bother me though. I don't think we should care wheather the govt. makes money off hunting or not, I pay my taxes for that lol. Hunting teaches us responsibility. If we harvest an animal, we have a responsibility to nature and the animal taken that it will be used in an ethical manner. not just kill it and disgard it but in a more subtle way, let's us know that we are stewards of our land.

If they outlawed hunting, it would probably be for an actual reason, like the deer population taking a nosedive, or all of them having some kind of terrible disease... So, no.

If hunting were outlawed for no apparent reason, which I really don't think is likely thanks to most people having half a brain and all the lobbyists for gun and hunting associations, then... Maybe. I certainly wouldn't look down on other people doing it, in that case.

I would 100% still hunt. The only way the government could stop me is if they threw me in prison. I'd put the rifle away (too loud) and bow hunt to my heart's content. I will hunt until I can no longer draw back a bow or shoot a rifle no matter what the government or anyone else says.

Is it not a greater crime to starve a person?

Hunting is a sport but it is still the main source of food for some Americans. So I would have to say I would ignore that law if it meant putting food on the table. I would further more stand behind anyone else needed to break the same law in order to put food on their table!

I think that it would depend on the size of the deer. I could hold myself back from shooting anything under an 8 point. After that my instincts would take over. ha ha

all I will say is during my highschool years shooting deer at night was a weekly event. And by the time I graduated I had gotten damn good at it. It does not border on poaching it is all out poaching. And i think alot of otherthings will happen before that happens that will make you shooting an illegal deer the least of your concerns
