What is the most even-handed weekly news magazine?
I am currently receiving Newsweek, and although I'm liberal, I'm tired of having someone else's opinion being stuffed down my throat in place of me arriving at my own opinion through analysis of the insights to be gained from even-handed reportage ('reportage,' a word I've never typed before.;). So, what do you guys recommend? Or is Newsweek it? (pukes)

I'm addicted to The Week. The idea is based on the daily briefings prepared for the President.
Every story gets excerpts from the right and the left, columnists and journalists. National and International news are covered with a map so you can see what part of the world each story is in. Quick bits on finance, lifestyle, science. Nothing is in-depth, if I want to know more, I have enough info to dig deeper. But I get more info on more topics than reading a few regular news magazines, and it's pretty balanced.

"Did 1st Century Christians hand out magazines like the JWs?" No. "Jehovah's Witnesses assert they are acting as the first century Christians. Does the Bible say somewhere that the Disciples handed out magazines or weekly written literature of any sort?" When JWs say they act like first century Christians, they mean in attitudes and beliefs and actions in regards to scriptural and moral issues. JWs never claimed to be mirror images of first century Christians in all respects, as if they wore first century attire, and speak only Greek and/or Hebrew. First century Christians didn't hand out literature because there was no printing at the time, and paper costs were very expensive. "Workers at Bethel, NY, work at slave labour wages." How much do "slaves" make? JWs at Bethel are volunteer workers, which means they're not doing the work for wages. "The Bible says in Isaiah 55:11 that His word does not return void. Can the same be said of the Watchtower or Awake! magazines?" Millions of JWs every year benefit from the literature, and several hundred thousand new ones are baptized every year.

Certainly not news week. However, they all split one way or the other. If you want even news try the AP network

If you want interesting readable articles - stick to Newsweek.
If you want to be bored to death - try reading the Economist.
