Would you ever reuse a pets name?

My old neighbors had a Samoyed years ago that they named Minka. After that dog passed away, a few years later they got another Samoyed and named her Minka too. I would never be able to name a new pet the same name as one of my old pets. I just wouldn't be comfortable, and it would be like the memories of the old pet clashing with the new one. So, would you ever reuse a pets name? Yes, or no, and please explain.

No, I don't think I could either... feels to me like re-using names for your kids! Like others have said- each one is different and it would be weird trying to fit a new pet into the "box" of the one before them. Like someone else mentioned, fosters are as close as I've gotten, and those dogs were actually given their names "in honour of" some of my childhood dogs. There are some people who use the same name over and over, though.

I don't think I would. Part of it is that the new dog is just not the same as the old dog. When my golden retriever was about 10, I got him a companion, who is also a golden retriever, and they have very different personalities, so I could never imagine comparing them by reusing a name (if my older golden had already died). On top of all that, if my dog had just died, I don't think that using his name on a new dog would really help me to recover - in fact it would probably make my grief last longer because I'd be mentioning my old dog's name many times every day which would bring up sad thoughts.

We did no longer have any option now did we?? the astonishing time India accomplished an ODI was in early 2013 & that was in opposition to England in the residing sequence. Now Veeru, Ghauti, Yuvi, Zaheer, Nehra are all out & new group of workers have are obtainable in. It wasn't some ingredient we would have predicted even nevertheless the selectors have made some sweeping variations retaining the 2014 WC in strategies! Its a clean difference now for Rohit Sharma's **** a hoop after his success in the at present concluded IPL 2013, 6th version. Plus he's taken the extra accountability of baulking the ingredient!Shikhar Dhawan might desire to consistently have been sorting out Ghauti's spot once you evaluate that 2006, whilst Ghauti began failing in his basic, his (Shikhar's) get right of entry to has come late into the Indian ingredient even nevertheless larger late than never! he's a swashbuckling participant & is watching in basic terms like the blended rigidity of Viru+Ghauti in the CT 2013! Jadeja has a ingredient to finally finally end up different than some contributions in the decrease down order would be regularly occurring in low scoring video games. Dhoni, Raina can each representative him as professional execs. India pulled a rabbit out of the hat picking Dinesh Karthick, he's firing on all cylinders now & is a 2nd keeper determination So the Indian team's batting is amazing even nevertheless a foremost Achilles heel is in the bowling…the astonishing win was through skill of a basically some runs & many bowlers did no longer distinguish themselves, often Ishant & Umesh. Jadeja & Raina did sturdy to place the brakes on the scoring, so as that's the thank you to bypass forward. a effective pacer like Shami Ahmed was wanted for this trip

I could not do it. Especially if there was an attachment to the first dog. After my dog passed I didn't reuse her name or any of her things for that matter. I actually still have her collar sitting on my desk with her tags and everything still on it.

No i would not because i think every pet should be known for their name. I wouldn't reuse it because it is kinda disrespectful for the pet resting in peace, and i wouldn't be comfortable.. it would bring back the memories.

If one of my rescue dogs has the same name as a previous dog I owned, yes. I don't believe in renaming dogs when you know and they know what their names are. Jake is a very common name. He was my first dog, so I expect there are many Jakes in rescues and shelters.

IMO that would be like having more kids & naming them the names of your previous kids. I consider my 3 dogs as people in our family. They each have their own identity. My son named our dog Furby, b/c he looked like a big ball of fur. My son & daughter named our dachshund Chocolate b/c she looked like chocolate. Our rat terrior is named Ozzie b/c that was his name when we rescued him & that's his identity. I don't think re-naming a dog is appropriate either. They already know their name & to re-name would only confuse them.

Our dogs are a part of our family. They have their own habits some bad, mostly good. They are their own people & they deserve respect to have a right to a name of their own.
