Christians: am I going to heaven?

I was once a devout Christian. I prayed for Jesus to come into my heart and accepted him as my lord and savior. I studied the Bible every single day. I prayed constantly. I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, and tried desperately to share my faith with those around me. I cried myself to sleep every night thinking of the people who were going to burn in hell for all eternity, and I prayed for them and witnessed to them at every opportunity. In other words, I wasn't just a Christian because it was the thing to do--I genuinely BELIEVED.

Later I realized that I couldn't morally be a part of such a religion, and that I didn't believe in the whole thing anyways, since it seemed to be mostly a mishmash of recycled myths from other Mediterranean religions.

But I keep hearing about how once someone is saved, they're saved forever, and the whole Pascal's Wager thing has me scared in a different way. What if I AM wrong? The most horrible fate I can imagine is to spend eternity in the company of the creature the Bible calls God, so would I really be forced to go to heaven? Is there any way to get unsaved? I've said some really nasty things about the Holy Spirit just to hedge my bets, but how can I be sure I'm not still going to heaven?

Update:

@JasonM: So how does anybody know if they're REALLY a Christian? Do we just have to wait and see? I was pretty dang sure I was one!

your not going to heaven. You were a false convert. You weren't really a Christian, but you thought that you were.

EDIT: So did Dan Barker. But like him, you fall into one of the categories of a false convert. For more info on that just check out the parable of the sower and the seed. You and him both seem to be thorny ground hearers.

You're good to go. Nobody who hates God and doesn't want to go to heaven will go there. Read in the Bible where it talks about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

That said, if there is a God who actually came to Earth out of love, to die for your sins, how is that God not worth spending eternity with?

You might also want to reexamine your reasons for not believing in God. If God exists and created people of all races and cultures, and if the Bible is his book, isn't it logical that the god stories of other cultures would be very reminiscent of what we read in the Bible?

Only God knows if youre saved . If you were following Christ before He is still waiting for you with open arms remember that his love is eternal even if we cant understand it. About your question theres an answer.Dont believe what alot of people say He has already left what we need to know in the Bible. AP 3:1He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels.

I hate to tell you this but all you have to do is walk away from God.He will not take you to heaven if you do not want to go.I think the churches you went to were not good bible believing ones. There are better ones.I have a question for you ,do you want to spend eternity in hell with the devil?

  • In John 4:13-15 Jesus meets a woman at well and tells her things that no one should about her, but told her that was the word that thirst for so long.

13Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

14But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

15The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

Jesus said. If you want to put your full trust in Him, then why not pray this prayer:

Dear God, I am sorry for my sins and I know I can't do anything to fix them so I accept Your son's as full payment for my sins, and I receive the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. And Jesus, I'm going to start serving you right now! In Your name, amen.

When God converts and gives Spiritual life to anyone, that person has been born again and will escape etenal damnation forever. John3:36.

It is because of the work of Jesus that a person is saved not be any works of us. Titus 3:5

Your wanting to not associate with Christ would tell me that you were never thankful of what He has done for you.

Christians are Thankful for the Free Gift that they received because of the death of Christ which paid for their sins.

Someone will pay for your sins...either Jesus or you.

    Nobody is "already saved":

    Philippians 2:12

"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—CONTINUE TO WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING"

    Mark 13:13

"But he who stands FIRM TO THE END will be saved."

    Matthew 24:12-13

Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

Salvation is not a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is a process.

The Bible is VERY clear about this.

There is nothing like "once saved, always saved".

KEEP YOUR FAITH STRONG! God and Jesus is the TRUE God! Jesus died and saves your life and I hope that you will see that God has put maricles in your life. If you belive that Jesus Christ is your savior who died on the cross to save you and that there is no other God and that you truly belive in him ..yes you will go to heaven.

Confusion isn't of God, as a result whilst you're puzzled it somewhat is by making use of listening to guy and not the Spirit of God. Heaven is a real place! Hell is a real place! It relies upon on guy/woman the place they want to spend eternity. The be attentive to God (the Bible as all of us be attentive to it) tells us the only thank you to the daddy is thru His Son. meaning precisely what? meaning that if we've self assurance upon the call of Jesus (Immanuel) we are stored. even with the undeniable fact that, we ought to confess this in public with our own mouth. devil believes in God! yet, he does not have self assurance upon the call of Jesus. as a result, devil would be solid to the pit of hell alongside with all people who don't think upon the call of Jesus. you will possibly ask, what approximately those from the previous testomony. they had to have self assurance upon God the daddy, reason Christ Jesus replaced into not yet born. Christ Jesus is God in the flesh! many don't be attentive to how God is the author, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. merely like i'm a daughter, sister, and aunt. 3 types yet one person! comparable with God... the daddy, the Son, the Holy Spirit (Comforter). Heaven is for all who have self assurance in the Godhead... as you detect in the two the Bible and the Torrah...... in Genesis a million we see all 3 kinds of God present. He tells in financial disaster 9 "...enable us to make guy in OUR photograph"..... The call "Christian" did not ensue till after the dying and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Its a call for people who have self assurance and stick to Jesus Christ. Catholics are Christian, even although a number of them might say they don't seem to be Christian. Mormons are Christian, even although their call is Mormon. Jeovah Witness are Christian, even although they're referred to as by making use of their doctrine call. once you're a believer in the living God... you're sure for heaven. in case you have self assurance or stick to somebody or element different than God the daddy/Son/Holy Spirit you're sure for hell. era!!! some would possibly not agree, yet this is okay.
