How much should I charge?
I have been doing web/graphic design for a while now, but I recently started to provide it as a service. I'm just not sure what to charge. Right now, I have a customer who would like me to design five pages, in the size of 8.5x11 for a magazine. I would like to offer this person a good price, so does anyone know, lol? Thanks.

Educated, experienced professionals will charge anywhere from $75-500 a page depending upon what the client provides. Are they providing the written content? What about the stock photography and/or illustrations? These are both added expenses over and beyond flat page layout.
Assuming that the client is providing content and everything else is up to me, I would charge at least $100 a page. That would of course vary depending upon what type of company it was. Non-profits I would do for a reduced rate.

Your first job is probably the most important job and word-of-mouth advertising is the best. This is part of you portfolio. Do they want you to act as webmaster once the site is operational? You should try to price it incrementally: get a bare bones site working and then price out improvements incrementally. Also, try to assess what they think that it's worth. Pricing yourself is difficult but becomes easier as you build a client base and a reputation.
