Which MLB team has the most jerks on its active roster, and how many jerks does that team have?

Additional Question: Which MLB team has the biggest jerk on its 25-man roster, and what makes him such a big jerk?

For those of you who may be wondering why I would ask, it's after 3 A.M. here, and thoughts like this randomly enter my mind.

I know a lot of people will be gunning for the Yankees, but I think a lot of them are nice guys. Teixeira is a really good guy. Burnett is a good guy. Melky seems nice. Molina seems gentle enough. Girardi is a family man.

I can understand criticism of Joba for his excitable nature or A-Rod for sometimes coming across as jerk-ish despite his best efforts. And maybe someone like Bruney...

I can't think of many players off the top of my head that I think are jerks. Some have been mentioned by others (Zambrano, Pierzynski). But I don't think you can judge players without actually knowing them.

That said, I can't stand Josh Beckett. He's just a cocky, smug, scary-looking a**hole. Great pitcher, though, and he knows it. And I bet Jonathan Papelbon is a really nice guy, but the faces he makes and his intimidation tactics on the mound drive me crazy. And I've never really liked Jacoby Ellsbury... But a lot of the Boston guys seem pretty nice to me, despite my Yankee loyalties.

The Mets seem to have some jerks. Francisco Rodriguez did something this year that made me think he was a jerk. I can't remember what. Gary Sheffield is kind of a jerk, too. Cocky and selfish. And he always starts racism controversies.

Ex-Yankee Kyle Farnsworth was kind of a punk. He'd whine about his use and I think he had a history of punching people or something...

Randy Johnson can be an a**hole when you tick him off. I don't know if I've ever seen that guy happy, either.

Vincente Padilla allegedly throws at batters he doesn't want to face. That's kind of a jerk move.

I don't know Manny Ramirez enough to say he's a jerk. He seems like a decent guy to me. Just a little crazy.

And I've always felt that Octavio Dotel was kind of a jerk...

I'm really not familiar enough with other teams to compile a comprehensive list. There are 750 active players and I bet a lot of them are pretty nice guys.

  • I'd have to go with the Yankees for a sweep of 25 jerks. It's not so much the individual players as the general malaise, the cloud of overwhelming arrogance that comes from associating with that club.

The White Sox also get an honorable mention for A.J. Pierzynski, who is one of the biggest and most obnoxious jerks in the game.

Also, the Cardinals get a mention for Albert Pujols being an *anti-jerk* and helping an injured fan and his son at PNC park.

  • A lot of people are saying the Yankees have the most jerks.

Do you people honestly think that players like Derek Jeter, Nick Swisher, Melky Cabrera, Mariano Rivera, Johnny Damon, and Robinson Cano are jerks?

You have no proof that these players or any of the Yankees are jerks, you all just sound like bitter, jealous Yankee Haters.

I think it might be my team, the Red Sox.

Drew and Bay are a couple of faeries as our corner outfielders. Varitek is too busy banging reporters to work on making contact and throwing out base runners. Green doesn't belong on a MLB roster, but sticks around anyway. Penny pitches to get pulled. That way he can start on the post game buffet early. Buchholz has erased all his trade value.

When i think of jerks, i think Zambrano, Soriano, and Bradley. They are all egotistical pricks. Zambrano throws a fit whenever he pitches a bad game, and picks fights with his own teammates. Soriano is the most showoffy player ive ever seen, and he's batting .250 with a huge contract. Bradley blames all his problems on the media and umpires, because they are "all out to get him." Makes me sick that these losers make so much money. I might as well throw in Piniella too, he sits on his *** the entire game and does nothing, and never takes responsability when something goes wrong that he could have prevented.

I would have to say the Cards, starting with the manager LaRussa he's always been a jerk.then the rest of the team except Pujols who is questionable about steroid use.I know i will get thumbs down for this .Lets see , Mcquire,Ortiz ,Bonds, and Ramirez never used steroids either ,Get Real Albert.

You Don't Know any of them so you can't judge anyone. Just because there cocky and confident doesn't mean there jerks. I bet most of them are some of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

I mean seiously everyone seem to have a problem with the Yankees but don't you see how much charity work they do they don't have to do that if they don't want to. Its not like they can force them to do it. Plus just watch there postgame interviews do they seem like Jerks? I don't think so. Im not just saying this because im a Yankee fan either. Its not right to Judge a person you don't know so if any of you ever meet any of the Yankees or the other so called jerks you guys listed and spend a day with them then you can say if you think there jerks or not.
