Anyone got any advice on how to get a good night's sleep?
I have insomnia, and normally miss around three hours of sleep in a night. I'm going on a seriously long flight tomorrow, and I find it impossible to sleep on a plane.
I'd like to get a full seven or eight hours tonight without waking. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks.

First don't drink all that water that was suggested, you will be up running to the bathroom all night. Take Benadryl. It is in many sleeping pills and the PM OTC pills but just take plain ole Benadryl, you'll get a good night's sleep and it won't hurt you at all as long as you don't make a habit of it. Years ago that is what hospitals used for sleeping pills, I know, I took enough of them!!

It may seem old fashioned but try reading a book . No t.v ,pc ,vitamins or food for an hour before you sleep ( food 2 hours ). Know that tomorrow has trouble in itself so do not stress out over what will happen tomorrow . It will help you to sleep and if you have any chamomile tea drink it whiles you unwind .

It helps to wind down and relax a good hour or two prior to sleeping. Turn off the lights, to not stimulate your brain, take a warm bath, read a book or magazine. There are tons of tips online that are very helpful.

try doing something during the day that will make you tired. Go for a run. Go shopping or walk around the mall all day - activities that will make you tired.
then wind down with a warm bath to relax your muscles. then before going to bed, stretch. Stretch everything - arms, legs, shoulders etc. You'll feel super relaxed when you go to bed and waking up.

not really. double check your luggage, get ready your grab pack of last items in a ready place. (ie toothbrush and other things you'll pack last as you'll be using them before the flight.) and finally fluff the pillow and make it as comfortable in bed as you can. oh one last thing. before you sleep. take 5 minutes. sit in a yoga position and mediate. focus on tensing your body. then starting from your head. relax all the muscles one by one downwards letting your stress flow down from your head down your neck, body, legs and finally toes and into the ground. then go to sleep.
