Choosing a Car: Mercedes Benz vs. BMW vs. Lexus vs. Audi vs. ?
Hi,
I am looking for a car and was deciding between which manufacturer to purchase. Which manufacturer in general produces more reliable cars?
Im looking at the following cars:
Mercedes Benz:
E-Class
SLK350
CLK350 - heard it has huge transmission issues, leaking issues
C-Class
BMW
5-series
Z4 - heard you could really feel the bumps in the road
Mini Cooper S
3-series
Lexus
GS
ES
Audi
A6
Any other suggestions of cars around those price ranges? I am not looking for speed. I'm particularly looking for the look of the car (I think roadsters look nice), how comfortable the car is, how reliable the car is, good handling. If anyone knows of any reoccurring problems with any of these models please let me know. Which one would you buy, and why?

The BMW would win. BMW's M3 always wins against the competition and I'm confident that their all new M3 will set the bar again. None of the other cars will handle as well as the BMW, even though they may be slightly quicker. The Lexus won't even come close in comparison to it's German competition. I doubt that car will be as much a thrill to drive as Lexus is saying it will be. The Mercedes undoubtedly has tons of raw power and is probably the most comfortable out of these cars, but can Mercedes really make a car with the right steering feel to beat BMW at its own game? I think the Audi is probably the toughest competition for the M3. It has a lot of grip on the road because it's all-wheel drive and it has a marvelous engine and transmission. I just don't think it has what it takes to be the winner though.

If you don't care about performance than get a Mercedes.
