Each computer has an OEM CD encoded to that computer if you have purchased it and not manufactured it yourself. If you manufactured it yourself, you would have purchased a normal OS CD from the store and be able to use it on one machine but need to pay for a license for 3 machines or more.
OEM CDs are encoded to be used on the code on your machine and the drivers for non-OEM parts are left out sometimes.
However if you own the Vista CD for the one computer you made and format the old computer to no longer using it on that computer, you can contact Microsoft and claim a new code.

When you buy an Operating System lest say Windows Vista your are not really buying the disc you are buying the product key. All Vista discs are the same but the product keys are different.
So yes you can use the same disc but you will have call microsoft and buy a new Product Key.

If it is the exact same make and model then it might work, otherwise NO you cannot and it may not tell you this until you are half way through causing the system to be useless until you reinstall the OS using a different disc.

Yes you could just make sure you have the product key that applies to the disk. That would be the psychedelic sticker with lots of numbers on the side of the computer.
