How many of you Baseball people think you could Umpire a High School game?

All I hear is how bad the Umps are. This job isn't as easy as all you know it alls think. GO STRAP IT ON and lets see what you got .

Update:

Dylen I would love to see you behind the plate calling the strike zone like its printed in the rule book, you would'nt last 1 season. As every one in Blue knows that they have there own version of the zone.So Strap it ON.

absolutely not. i couldn't even umpire a senior men's slower-than-molasses-pitch softball game. i asked a question on here the other day about umpires, which you gave a fantastic answer to, but my beef was about quick ejections. my stepfather is an umpire and i had a sit down with him the other night about all these ejections and he said almost word for word what you said: the more seasoned you are, the more you'll tolerate as an umpire.

i got respect for blue, but what can i say? i'm a baseball fan, not an umpire fan. kinda like, i'm a fan of peace, but police officers get under my skin like nobody's business. umpires are like the parents-in-the-next-room of a hot high school date. all you wanna do is play the game but know you because they're there, you have to follow the rules. good and bad comes with it, but overall i have a respect.

I am quite confident I could, and quite effectively. People forget that it's an umpire's job the freaking ump. His job is to call balls and strikes. Most of them extend the zone, manipulate it, and have their own version of it. This is NOT what the strike zone is. The strike zone is the width of the plate from the knees to the letters. To many times have I seen an umpire refuse to call a strike because it doesn't correlate with his zone, same with a strike being a ball. Umpires are paid to ump, so when one of them underperforms (about 50% of them) they should be treated like everyone else in this country and be fired. After all, if you stink at your job then deserve to be fired. Why are umps given so much leeway? Freaking ridiculous.

    I did it from 1973 - 1987, and softball from 1982 - 1999.

"As every one in Blue knows that they have there own version of the zone.'

That's the cry of the whiner/loser.

The strike zone is what the rule book states. Any umpire who has their own version would be released from his/her umpires' association, and/or redlined by the high schools.

THANK YOU RICKY!! i've umpired high school boys for years, and i can fully appreciate how good those pro umps are. sure, they blow a few calls, but i am 9 times out of 10 i am amazed at how they get the call right.

    Amen, buddy.

Not enough people appreciate how difficult it would be. Umpires never get praised for making correct calls (by the way, they make the right call almost every time, even on close plays), but they always get criticized for making bad calls.
