Christians: Why Are You Allowing Trolls to Speak For You?
A 'troll' from the R&S forums saw a post of mine in the GLBT section, and kept pestering me with emails about how f@gg0ts like me were going to end up burning in hell if we didn't "renounce" our evil lifestyle and "walk in the Lord's light" by "going straight and properly being with a woman." When I told him I was black and that if I WERE straight, my GF/wife would probably be white, he said that he believed I was hopeless and "my soul would be damned to Hell either way."
So why are the REAL Christians here allowing these idiots to speak for them? Does the God you believe in really want to have his cake and eat it, too? You can't be gay OR fall in love outside your own race? What's up with that??? Somebody with some common sense please explain...

Many Christians nowadays use "you'll burn in hell forever" as an argument against anything that they don't agree with or makes them feel uncomfortable. Sadly most of them are very hateful toward the GLBT community. This is not uncommon among Christian Americans.
However, if that guy was serious about the whole "marrying outside your race" thing... Then, excuse the language, but he is obviously batsh!t crazy.
I find it extremely unfortunate that fellow Christians have to talk to you that way.
Honestly, I'm becoming more liberal and beginning to question whether or not homosexuality is really a sin. I'm on the fence right now... I hope that you would at least give me some credit for keeping an open mind.
Regardless of whether or not you think it's a "sin", telling another person that he's going to hell is just cruel and hateful, and I'm sorry that you have to experience that.
Just please remember that he doesn't speak for all of us, and that some of us try to be rational and loving people, like we believe Jesus was. Peace.

Wow, I'm really sad that someone calls themselves a Christian and then speaks to you that way.
I am a Christ Follower. I love God with all my heart (even though my heart is not always good) and I believe the Bible is the word of God.
The bible does say that sexual immorality is a sin, which includes homosexuality. BUT it also says we should not lie, steal, cheat, gossip, murder, hate anyone, we should not envy, be hostile...and on and on. The bible says that we have all done wrong in Gods eyes, which means that, that person is just as guilty before God as you or I would be, period. So who does he think he is to say such hateful things to you? He is not better than anyone, he should burn in hell too!
If you know anything about the Bible you know that it says Christians are supposed to be known by their LOVE, not by their constant judgement on other people! I could take up a whole page just c/p verse where Jesus says LOVE one another, love your neighbour, love your enemy!
To answer your first question, why do we allow trolls to speak for us.... well I don't really have a choice on what someone posts calling themselves a Christian, it breaks my heart to read some of the hateful things people write in the name of Jesus.
On behalf of Christians who really love God, I'm so sorry.

I do not control other people.
If I could stop the Fred Phelps of the world I would. But I can't. The only thing I can do is try to show the love of Jesus to the lost through my life.
Homosexuality is a sin. (so is lying, stealing, being greedy, etc etc)
It's not a sin to marry someone outside of your race.
Trolls come in every shape and form. I have been attacked by Atheists before. Of course there are some respectful Atheists here too....so I learned not to judge the bunch because of one bad banana.
Hopefully your smart enough to do the same.

Well I am a Christian but I often don't even want to call myself that. I prefer to say I am a follower of Christ bc a lot of ppl who claim to be Christians aren't really. Do I personally believe homosexuality is wrong? Yes. Am I going to judge u and call u a bad person and tell u you're going to hell bc u are gay? No. It is not my place to judge anyone. The Bible says "judge not lest ye be judged." As far as the race thing goes it doesn't matter. We are all human beings. We are all children of God. Any Christian who tells u God hates u and u are going to hell is not a true Christians. As Christians we are supposed to model ourselves after Christ. Christ loves sinners he just hates the sin. And we ALL sin. As Christians we are supposed to love everyone even our enemies!
Hope this helps! :)

I have repeatedly spoken out against the troll-idiot fundie retards who give the rest of us a bad name. My apologies. I would love nothing more than for them to shut the eff up.
As far as homosexuality goes, Christians cannot come to a consensus. It seems inconsistent to me that we preach against homosexuality because of a particular verse about it in the Old Testament, but do not uphold the other laws in the same book--about not eating pork and not getting tattoos, for example.
To me, there's a further complication when you consider what Jesus did, namely, take away the sins of the world. It was my understanding that Christ rendered sin irrelevant. Our actions no longer matter to God, and all that matters is faith. This seems to be the mainstream view, but yet we still go around calling each other sinners as if Jesus never forgave us all.
I apologize in that I have no straight answer. I for one am a Christian who cannot imagine a God who hates gays.

My first response is just suppose to make you laugh.. I will provide another:
If I met a big friendly troll and someone was threatening me... I would happily let him speak for me as his oversize stature and habit of eating people would speak for itself. That is provided he did not eat me first, and would speak for me-- thus, friendly
Now since I read the details I understand the fist part of my question will not suffice:
I have not allowed this so-called troll to speak for me, he is obviously an unfriendly troll..I have never encountered him under any troll guarded bridge... and if I did I would run.
2nd part of the question:
Jesus said I am the bread of life... He told us that when he died on the cross and made propitiation for our sins, and then conquered death and rose again... that in remembering his sacrifice, that we could go to heaven because of his death, that we are to eat and drink of his blood... nothing about cake though...

How exactly do you think we can stop people like that from claiming to speak for all of us? The best I can do is to stand up and say something when I hear someone say something I think is totally inconsistent with the message of Jesus. You said this person was speaking like this to you via email...how in the world could I stop anyone from sending you email and spewing a bunch of garbage?
One thing I can do is tell you what Jesus said about people like this...and how to handle them...but you have to accept that he knew what he was talking about. He warned his followers more than once that people would misinterpret and twist his message...that MANY would be deceived by false prophets who misrepresent the message of Jesus for their own gain. He told us to ignore such people...shun them...to share the truth with them and with anyone they influenced and if they chose not believe, to have nothing to do with them.
As Jesus commanded, I will not judge the heart or mind of another person...but I can and will follow his advice not to put ANY trust in people who claim to be following him while simultaneously breaking one of his commandments.
All I can say to you is that I love you sweetie...and if you're "damned to hell" (whatever that is), it won't be because you're gay or because you dated or married a white woman...it will be because you believed you could earn the right to share eternity with God without his help.

I do not - I block them and they can not email me. Block them. The best way to look at this is that there are good people and bad people in this world. This person is a bad person, block him and do not give him the power of anger or even responding to him or even asking a question about him. This bad person is not worth it and you are, so remember, we are to be loving, patient and tolerant and accept everyone where they are and how they are. This does not mean you have to email or talk with them - blow them off and stick with the good people.

Because they are more interested in promoting their mostly fundamentalist ideas and probably agree with the fantasies , idiocy, and fanaticism of the troll who is pestering you, His ravings are an integral par of the Fundamentalist and theocon belief system. Some people would report this troll.

Those Christians -note I am not generalizing all Christians just the bitchy ones- have no joy in their lives so they want to piss off the people who do because, it goes against their morals and think they can change them. However making a gay person straight is as hard as making a straight person gay. Ha I said hard. Good luck to you.
