How will Boxing Be Different in a Decade or so?

Do you expect anything to be different? In a decade, the human race will surely have come up with ideas to change areas of any sport. The NBA might have a 10-point line. NFL might have 2 quarterbacks lol. A wrestling feature may be added to the NHL, we all know that they love tackling and hitting each other in some sort of fashion. And MMA, may have already been a distant memory, similar to how professional wrestling has become.

First of all, do you even think Boxing will change? Yes or No? If Yes, how would it change? If No, why wouldn't it?

Boxing is good as it is right now. But you won't know if there will be something come a decade or so that will help the sport. To me, boxing is perfect. But that is what people said about the NBA in the 50's. Anything could change......

Very interesting question, one that is difficult to answer.

Nothing is static, everything changes and evolves and boxing is no exception - just look at the new "diamond" catch-weight belt that has been proposed.

In an ideal world boxing will have have gotten rid of the alphabet titles ten years down the line, throw in centralized governing body across the board while we're at it, most sports have one but boxing doesn't. Sadly, these don't make financial sense to the people who matter so they are unlikely to see the light of day.

I can say with almost certainty that boxing will continue to become more and more of an international sport, the fall of communism in Cuba and China could yield some interesting results. If the upcoming Showtime tourney turns out to be a big success expect them to be commonplace across all of the weight divisions. I would like to see the lighter weight division fighters have more mainstream exposure. In all likeliness we will see yet more belts and promoter companies. Increased television and media coverage around the world will increase boxing's following to the people of far flung countries, which can only be a good thing.

There are pros and cons of the boxing scene I envisage ten years down the line, but there can be no doubt that boxing will continue to change.

Um............. really hard to think about anything.

    *Time-outs? LOL

*The Boxing Ring is inflatable, so you could jump?

*Just 10 rounds? In a decade, they prolly think that 12 rounds is too dangerous, like 15 rounds used to be.

*Large and Wide Boxing Rings out of this World, for really "fat" guys?

*Maybe they fight in a ring attached to an airplaine, above buildings, etc.

*What else......everytime you touch the ropes, it'll be like out of bounds in NBA, and it will count as a knockdown? LMAO.

That's all I could think of LOL.

with the actual sport? not much will change. simple and effective. sharks havnt evolved much in the last like million or so years for the same reason boxing wont really evolve much.

as far as the politics of it goes, well who knows. i hate it when that bullshit gets in the way

I hope there will be no more Alphabet organizations (like the WBC, WBA, IBF, etc).

Maybe professional boxing will decide to use headgear.
