I would be more happy than you if you could keep it around 88.
Normal Fasting Blood Sugar
A normal fasting blood sugar (which is also the blood sugar a normal person will see right before a meal) is:
83 mg/dl (4.6 mmol/L) or less.
Many normal people have fasting blood sugars in the mid and high 70 mg/dl (3.9 mmol/L) range.
Though most doctors will tell you any fasting blood sugar under 100 mg/dl (5.6 mmol/L) is "normal", there are several studies that suggest that testing with a fasting blood sugar in the mid 90 mg/dl (5 mmol/L) range often predicts diabetes that is diagnosed a decade later.
So keep walkin'. Have you tried NORDIC WALKING> It uses up 46% more energy and you don't even realise it.

Metformin does NOT lower glucose levels. It is your exercise and food plan that does that. The Metformin is a systemic drug and takes up to a month to month and a half to fully get into the system to start working correctly. It makes the muscles accept the natural insulin your body produces or accept any injected insulins. Some of the other medications do lower glucose levels.
However 88 is a very lovely number!! I wish I could get there! If it goes below 60 then you should take some regular cola, orange juice, sugary coffee or something else similar to bring it back up. There is the rule of 15s - 15 grams of carb to raise glucose 15 points in 15 minutes. That is half a regular cola, 4 ounces of orange juice, etc.
Chocolate bars do not count!! they have fat in them and the fat slows the absorbtion of the carb grams of the sugar.
I like to use the South Beach phase 2 food plan as a guide to eating. Have been using it for the past 12 years. I am a girl so I try to keep the grams of carb to under 100 per day including snacks. And no! you cannot eat the entire 100 grams in one sitting! You have to spread them out over the whole day. For guys 150 is a good aim unless you find this is too many. So start learning to count grams of carb.
Good place to plan menus on line is http://www.sparkpeople.com/ just sort of ignore the fats and proteins listing and concentrate only on the grams of carbohydrate you are planning for the whole day.

normal ranges are from 65 to 99 mg/dL and an hour and half after a pure sugar meal with glucose level of 88 is fantastically normal!! But maybe you should make an appointment with your doctor to find out what is wrong as you are dizzy.
