US Navy Fitness Qualifications?

Last year I was disqualified from the Coast Guard because I was overwieght. I've been hitting the gym and eating better ever since. However I'm still considered around 15 pounds overwieght for military service.

Recently I looked up the fitness standards to pass boot camp for the US Navy. Not only can I complete most of the required exercises, but I can exceed the Navy's minimum standards. The only exception is the 1.5 mile run, where I lag behind by a few minutes

My question is this: If I show a recruiter, and the doctors at MEPs that I can pass the Navy's PFT, will I be able to get a medical waiver for enlistment?

You have to make weight or tape. No exceptions. So you can go to the recruiter and they can tape you. Just make sure they will have a female recruiter there.

One of the qualifications to join any branch will be weight. You are going to need to make weight or pass the tape test. 15lbs is not that much. I do not know how much you have lost so far, but keep working and you will get there soon. Eat right, no fried foods, no junk food, cut out red meat, NO soda, drink tons and tons of water. If you have access to a gym and a sauna, go sit.

Just keep working to hit the 15 min requirement. That is what is initially required for a female 17-19.

Saunas are out of the question all you do is lose water. But either way you have to pass the tape test. You should do both weights and cardio{run or treadmill} Always do weights first because they have what is called an after burn and it takes while for the body process the energy. Cardio is for the heart and you lose your energy right away. Weights help to build muscles You should be eating every three hours, you can have red lean meat and fish like salmon is great. You want high protein and moderate to low carbohydrates. Protein drinks are great after workouts. Plenty of vegetables but limit the fruits because of the sugar. Eat brown rice, and egg whites are the norm. Don't weigh yourself everyday as body weight can change. You can weigh the same and have lost fat and gained muscle.
