Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters;
he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff--they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long.
--- Psalms 23: 1-6

From a christian, and My point of view ,absolute faith in God and the fact that he is greater than all things and is in control of our lives ( those that are saved and invite him to be in control). For the average Joe i guess facing them. Before i was saved i had this deep seated fear of snakes. One day i decided to face my fear and Got a brown house snake. I forced myself to pet it despite it still giving me the creeps when i touched it. I got used to brown house snakes but I never really got over the fear of other snakes despite all of this. As a saved christian i still am not very fond of snakes and still get the creeps when i see them in documeteries but i do not fear them attacking me as i know GOd created them and that he controlls them and if one where near me he would prevent it from biting me. Very much like God controled the Lions in the den that Daniel was thrown into.

Confidence and self evaluation. Also, knowledge. We fear what we don't know, so learn about it, and the fear is not likely to control us.
