What are these bugs on my dogs and how do I get rid of them?
They are most definately not fleas. They look just like poppy seeds and smoosh very easily. Fleas and ticks don't die that easy and ceratinly don't crush like these do. Mites are red...what are thses things?? Little black bugs! I gave them both a flea bath but the bugs were still there. I've had animals my whole life and I've never seen these things! I live in connecticut if that helps...they both were running through the woods and probably the wetlands or swamp area (they got our of the fenced in yard) Please help me my babies are getting eaten alive!

I don't know what they are, but not all mites are red. The ones we have here are grey and they will tear up the insides of a dogs ears. Go to your local livestock feed store and get some "food Grade" Diatomaceous Earth (DE). I prefer PermaGuard DE. I buy a 50 lb. bag for $28.00 because I use it, my pup gets it, and I also give it to my horse and goat. You may not need that much and you can buy smaller bags, but trust me, when you learn how this stuff works, you'll NEVER want to be without it, for you, your dogs, your yard and plants. I think it's too expensive online so I buy local.
It's a fossil shell flour that is a NATURAL antiparisitic that you can feed to your dog and dust your dogs with. It doesn't kill by chemical action, it kills by destroying the outer layer of the parasites body because of the shape of the tiny diatoms. It literally slices the bugs up, but it's as smooth as flour and will wipe out those nasty bugs and return your dogs back to a healthy state. If you feed 2% DE in your dogs food every day, they will also be worm free. The best part is, IT'S 100% NARTURAL.

your best bet is to take the dogs to a vet and keep them away from the woods because they could get worse and bringing the bugs into your home is not safe. They could be eggs about to hatch soon so best thing is to see a vet soon as possible, good luck.
