Looking for breeders in MN for Belgian Shepherd, help please?

I have fallen in love with the Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael variety), and am having issues locating a breeder nearby! Half of the webpages I look at are outdated, don't list enough information about the breeder/their conditions for adoption/cost of pups etc.

Preferably, we are looking for a companion pet that is up to or less than 800 dollars. Male, and it would be neutered. We're willing to pay for shipping costs, too, but it seems we just have a hard time getting into contact with the breeders themselves.

So I was wondering if anyone knows any breeders located in Minnesota, or if you've purchased from a breeder willing to ship out of state if you could give me their webpage info that'd be great.

Thanks!

(I've used puppyfind, pets4you and all sorts of search engines but it seems to be a harder breed to find than I'd ever imagined!)

Update:

Yea, I've been looking for weeks. Petfinder is only really good most of the time for strays and rescues it seems. That's the list I'd found for breeders, that directory. I just wish people put more info on their webpages or would get back in contact with me. :(

Update 2:

Thanks for the information, keep it coming if you can, haha! I've been researching the breed for a year but just moved to Duluth, MN. I'll have to look up where they have any dog shows nearby and try going there.

At the moment I am not working while taking just a few classes a week so I have plenty of time (and the desire) to work with a pet. :)

Why don't you go to a dog show in your area and meet the dogs and breeders in person. Or you can contact the national club for a listing of breeders belonging to the parent club.

Belgians, all varieties, are pretty much out of the hands of backyard breeders but there's plenty of reputable breeders out there. I fell in love with the breed myself, tervurens, and had no trouble finding two really good breeders. And yes, reputable breeders do ship their puppies. Of course, they'd need to talk to you first, have you fill out a questionnaire and check your references, but they do ship.

In America, the Groenendael variety is called the "Belgian Sheepdog".

Here is the breeder referral list for the Sheepdog Club. There aren't any in Minnesota, so you will have to travel. Most reputable breeders will not ship a dog.

you want Karen Simchak. I personnaly know her,she is a wonderful breeder. But her pups are expensive and she is very very picky about who gets a puppy.

How well do you know about this breed? They are very loyal but it is very difficult to train them, they are scared of just about everything and it takes more work than any other dog I have ever seen before.
