how do you get proof of auto insurance?

i just got my driver's license, (i'm 17) but i haven't been able to drive yet because my dad says i need to get an insurance card as proof of insurance. It was supposed to come in the mail a week ago. No one else i know had to do any of this, and they could drive as soon as they got their license. is there a faster easier way to get proof of insurance?

thanks

Call the insurance company. They can mail, fax, or even e-mail a copy of the insurance card to you.

Well if you paid for the insurance, they have to send you it. So you should call them up and ask them about it. Only your insurance company can provide you with the insurance card.

Contact your insurance company and ask them this question! DUH!

They could fax or e-mail proof of coverage.
