Does your body REALLY belong to the federal government?
It will if some of the Senate's plans for us come true...this is bizarre!
...government approved groups would be charged with monitoring your lifestyle and dietary habits on behalf of an all-powerful federal Leviathan that officially owns your very body? The statist goblins that wrote the ObamaCare bill sure can:
The health care reform bill approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP) would provide federal grants to state and local governments and a "national network of community-based organizations" to "promote healthy living and reduce disparities" and to monitor people's weight, eating, exercise habits and other individual behaviors that affect health at the community level. The language instituting the program, entitled "Community Transformation Grants," is on pages 382-387 of the bill as posted on the committee's Web site.
Here's the bill. From page 386:
TYPES OF MEASURES. — In carrying out subparagraph (A), the eligible entity shall, with respect to residents in the community, measure —
(i) decreases in weight;
(ii) increases in proper nutrition;
(iii) increases in physical activity;
(iv) decreases in tobacco use prevalence;
(v) other factors using community specific data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey; and
(vi) other factors as determined by the Secretary.
The appallingly corrupt and powerful Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT), best known for receiving the largest bribes from Fannie and Freddie before they crashed, confirms that ACORN could be the "eligible entity" that makes sure you are taking good care of the government's property by exercising properly, eating right, and so forth.
If our radical left rulers are able to impose ObamaCare, they will know there is no limit to how far they can go in indulging their totalitarian impulses.
dylan: Encouraging the citizens well being? Maybe you forgot how to read, or flunked reading comprehension, but your preference for seeing things through rose colored glasses is starting to intrigue me. Tell me, were you this way throughout the last 8 years of Bush's term? Or did you just put those on after Obama got elected?
dylan: NO, I'm saying that Government having people come to your house to verify that you are not smoking, are not overweight, and are not eating anything unhealthy is akin to tyranny.
Please show me where this power is enumerated in our constitution to the federal government. This is all about power over people's lives and choices. It has very little to do with health care. If it did, they could issue tax credits and exemptions that would help individuals pay for a health insurance plan. Are you familiar with the EIC? Those people don't have to actually PAY taxes to get the credit. It could work the same way. There are dozens of ways to help straighten out this mess, without resorting to Government taking over the health care industry or intruding into peoples' lives and their choices. Ever hear of incentives? The cash for clunkers program didn't force people to buy a certain vehicle from a certain manufacturer, why not?

When we started the Media Research Center 17 years ago, our mission was clear: Expose, document and neutralize the liberal media.
*Why would I even read the drivel that you cited, when it can't even pretend to be biased? That's not truly professional journalism if it can't even *pretend* to not be biased.
No government official has any right to enter your home with the exception of a search warrant. I believe this is written into our Constitution. So what are you worried about?
Or are you the overweight, smoker that can't stop eating food that is bad for you? Are you terribly worried about them coming into your house, disconnecting you from your computer and making you exercise? Yeah, your right that's so terrifying!
Could you be more paranoid?

Which proposal is this from? Senate or house? I have both of them. I'm checking that out right now. The most ominous section in there to me is "(v) other factors using community specific data from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey; and (vi) other factors as determined by the Secretary." That could be anything at all.
People don't realize this and more than one of them will call you a liar. I have read much of both of the proposals and therefore I don't disbelieve it. They have NO IDEA what's coming if this passes. None at all.

Many Americans support universal health care but want a system like the Netherlands built on private insurers. Yet, many Democrats insist on a public entity or government-like nonprofit, and an 8 percent payroll tax on businesses that don’t provide health insurance.
Retailers, small manufacturers and other businesses paying workers less than $80,000 annually will find it cheaper to drop their plans and push folks into the public option.
Clinton Labor Secretary Robert Reich recently claimed private insurers don’t compete, because of antitrust exemptions. Anyone who chooses from an employer list of plans knows private insurers offer competing ranges of coverage and cost. Anyone who took Econ 101 knows the number of competitors, not the strong arm of government, determines the opportunity to fix prices and collude.
When those who govern view those who disagree with them as “evil mongers,” in the words of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, they become blind to facts and deaf to reason.
Democrats appear to be girding to push through health care reform without the features moderate voters want

shrub was interested in enriching himself and his associates, unless you believe he started at least one illegal war, for the well being of military personnel?
are you inferring that, reducing ones weight (if obese), having a balanced nutritious diet, being physically active, decreasing smoking, and reducing ones exposure to risk, are nefarious ideals?

I would tell them to **** off if they wanted to own my body. The federal government is an employee of the nation and therefore are not legally entitled to govern (within reason) what you choose to do to your body. Just tell the pricks to **** off.

The plan you have listed would whip your lardazz into shape. Just look around you Americans are bloated walking whales. Something needs to change in the US. The rigthwingers just want everything to stay the same. If the Republicans did something in the last 12 years they controlled the congress (Yes that's 12 years of complete control of the congress by Republicans!) then we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

Oh I would gladly give my life to further the cause of the vaccine priests and the global warming pontiffs. It would be an honor.
Oh Mother Earth how great thou art, bless us now thou loving Lucifer and lead us into the age of enlightenment, dispose of the useless eaters, cattle and goyim and give me the strength to build a palace for thee.
