Since livestock production is the #1 cause of global warming, why don't the government address the main issue?

Why should the government do anything about it? Maybe we should fix our own problems? This problem is caused by people's lifestyle choices. Do you want the government choosing a lifestyle for you?

How Do You Figure That Livestock Production Is The Main Cause Of Global Warming? Are You Listening To The Little Creatures Under Your Bed Again?
The Worlds Reliance On OIL Is The Biggest Cause, Our Chemical Plants Releasing Millions Of Tons Of CFC Into The Atmosphere Every Day Is A Huge Cause... But The Biggest Cause For Global Warming Is Mother Nature Her Self... The Rotation Of The Earth, The Change In Jet Streams, Ect.... We Don't Control The World, She Controls Us.

First of all livestock "production" is not the main cause of global warming. In fact any and all of the causes of global warming are still controversial. The problem is that it's not easy to compare the factors involved. Methane may be a much stronger influence, but it is a fraction by mass than CO2 (relating to human contribution). There is also the the fact that a lot of this livestock may or may not exist with our influence. In other words, the natural process these animals exhibit could exist without us. To look at a controlled area like a farm and say these animals exist because of us and produce methane because of us is presumptuous. Besides all that logic, it still is not accurate. CO2 is a much larger contributor at the moment by numbers alone.

You have got to be kidding!!!! Livestock, you are smoking weed. True cows, pigs, and other livestock put off methane gas. SO DO YOU!!! Or do you not have any bowel movements at all, ever? The idea that animals are the problem is rediculous. Animals have been on this planet a lot longer than people have. Maybe, instead of getting rid of the livestock, we should just get rid of the people. No people, no one to know it got hotter, no problems. The animals addapted to us, not we had to adapt to them. However, farm animals should be let out on the farm to eat. The crap the big companies give these animals to fatten them up is part of the livestock problem. Those animals are suppose to eat grass. It is good for their digestive system. The cow shits on the ground, the pie makes great fertilizer. Makes more grass grow. More grass = less carbon dioxide.= more oxygen. The methane is lighter float up into the atmosphere where the suns ultraviolet rays transform it into non hazerdous materials. Lets let the cow and the pigs go free and let them do what they were meant to do. Fertilize.

As a consumer, you should be buying from local farms (that produce both animal and produce crops). Instead of blaming meat or the farmer, realize how hard it is for the small farmer to get by. We are a nation founded on agriculture but big business has made it impossible for the little guy to maintain his livelihood between rising property taxes, machinery that gets bigger and more expensive every year and copy rights on seed. Meat is not the issue, lobbyers pocket linings are.
ETA: it always amuses when when "ethical" vegans blame farming and choose to ignore the land that got eaten up to put up your "trader joes" and all the other things you use on a daily basis that are not eco friendly

LOL
Livestock is the number one cause ehh?
If you actually believe that.. then there is no helping you! Obviously you believe whatever dribble you find on the internet that supports your cause without even investigating.
The EPA lists the two main causes of rising green house gases as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. And guess what smarty pants.. slash and burn farming in the rain forest is done mainly to produce VEG!
According to the EPA livestock enteric fermentation (farts) is tied with paddy rice farming as a green house gas producer.

I am all for cleaning up the environment. But do so with half a brain and dont expect people to believe such nonsense filled lies.

There is lots of proof that global warming isn't occurring but lets not get into that. The government won't do anything about livestock because if they did, they would most likely cut down on the amount of meat going into the market which would drive up the price which would piss everyone who eats meat off. Because most of the population enjoys their meat, if the goverment did this they would be out of a job becasue they pissed everyone off.

1) your assumption is wrong
2) the entire "global warming" thing has been debunked many times over
So 3) there's no need to "address the main issue" which of course is that you want to force everyone to become a strict vegan and are looking for an excuse to call for the banning of breeding and eating animals.
The "main issue" that needs to be addressed instead is the constant growth of government influence over peoples' lives.
Outlawing radical groups like PETA and ACORN would be a good first step towards that, followed by the dissolution of about half of all laws and government agencies.

I think its bull, animals have lived on this earth for millions of years. I believe it to be the fault of humans and our machinery. Our cars, manufacturers, trains, planes, trucks, missiles, space shuttles, aerosol cans, air conditioners, toxic waste, nail polish, furniture polish, not farts and burps. I believe the human race is ashamed for how we have ruined our earth and are making excuses to cover it up. We have not had these problems except in the last 100 years or so. Trains were the first culprit. I don't believe for one minute that animals, livestock, etc. are the problem. Humans are the problem. Get rid of us and the earth will be fine. Just think, we take down forests daily, we pollute the water daily, we destroy our own air quality daily and then blame it on the pigs. BS! BS! BS!

Maybe not number 1 but above all modes of transportation. It is one of the most destructive human activities.
