Can my external hard drive be fixed and how?

I have a Western Digital My Passport External Hard Drive and after a clumsy moment or two, the point where the USB cable plugs into the hard drive is loose, i.e. moves back and forth, disconnected somehow...thus the computer no longer recognizes it. I'm pretty sure the hard drive itself is undamaged...what should I do?

remove the case. it can be a little tricky but it is do-able. I just removed one from the case to use as an internal hard drive for my laptop. You can get a new case to plug the hard drive into here...

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...

That one is 10.49 with free shipping (granted there are some cheaper ones, and some more expensive as well). Throw the hard drive into the new case and, saying therre isnt damage to the case itself, you should be ready to plug and play.

    Enjoy

    It shouldn't hurt the HDD/

Use that Clear Silicone Sealant--to re-apply the connection..let dry 20-hours..

Once completly dry..try the connectivity--hoping its right--

If you actually got the connection back--apply a stiffer adhesive to complete the repair--I might try LIQUID NAILS..or even Auto Body BONDO/..its chancy/[end]

take the hard drive out of the enclosure and buy a new enclosure....should be about $20 - $30.

you could buy a new SATA to USB converter. I had to do the same thing after knocking over my external HDD, same exact type as yours.
