Jehovah's Witnesses............?
What are your goals for the new service year? :)
Wow, what encouraging answers everyone! :)
Vot - Regular auxiliary pioneering is a wonderful goal. That is my goal beginning in March, as there's no way I would be able to get my time in for February. Then hopefully back to regular pioneering next September! :)
Me me me - I'm not sure if you mean the Ministerial Training School or the Ministry School, but either one is very encouraging! :)
And your goal about reading the Bible all the way through again is a great one, too.
Bro. Jeshurun - Wow, that is a great pattern to have. I need to get better at reading all the magazines myself. I will do pretty well at it for a while, then not so great. Thank you for the reminder.
(my comments above posted in the wrong order...)
Mara, wow - your 4th language? That is great.
Doing better in personal study and doing more to encouraging others, more great ideas!
And Hunny - I hope you're able to get back into the pioneer work too. I know Jehovah will bless your efforts.
Lone Dissenter - Yes, please do check out one of our meetings! :) I'm so glad you enjoyed the convention.
Angel Music - What a great habit to be in regarding the yearbooks! And what a wealth of knowledge (in addition to what you already have) you'll obtain after reading both Insight books!
I'm learning so much from all of you!
Um, I just realize I said "to encouraging others" above... sorry about that. I think I meant "to encourage others" or "be encouraging to others." I'll add improving on my grammar to my list of goals... ;)
Allison, that is wonderful!! You will not regret pioneering. I did the same thing when I was just a little older than you, and never regretted it. I really miss those days. Keep up the great work.
Kerika - Your answer has so many great points I can't pick just one. I'll just say it was very encouraging, and thank you for sharing.
Thanks to all of you for your encouraging answers. So many great ideas. :)
Thanks Vot - I'm even more encouraged by everyone's answers than I thought I would be.
Rachel - Way to go! That sounds great.
Blahnii - Yes, I read the Bible in an accelerated fashion last year and got so much more out of it than I ever had before. It really helped me place several things in context and I felt like my understanding of certain things increased by leaps and bounds. Of course, both methods have their pros (neither have a con), but I really enjoyed doing it that way. This year I went back to reading it the slow way, but I'm getting ancy, so I may try reading it fast again.
Crocodile Dundee - You are such an encouragement
& Granny - That sounds wonderful
ou812 - It's nice to know that improving on the Family Study night is your goal. In mine for this week (I am my family), I decided to go back through my old pioneer school book and only got through a question and a half, the research was just so interesting. I was studying about the marvels of Creation, and only got through the universe aspect of it. It was fascinating. Maybe if you have kids, they would be interested by that.
Sorry... I meant to say in. Interested in that.
I typed the recent comments above in a hurry and just realized they might have sounded wrong. The rest of what you wrote, ou812, is nice too, and I wasn't trying to tell you what to do for your family worship night - just got so excited studying about Jehovah through his creation of the universe that I thought I would share. :)
Camellia & AZKat - Thanks! It's nice to hear everyone's encouraging comments.
Tropicales - Yes, it was great, wasn't it? When I went, it was in the days of bound volumes instead of cd-rom material, and I had several tall stacks of bound volumes in my room by the end of the class. I'm envious of those that have gotten to go again. :)
And I would love to have a copy of that list you mentioned.
Phew! This replying to everyone's answers is hard work! ;) I'm going to go ahead and choose a best answer now because I don't think I have any room left...

Hey I like your idea about going through the Pioneer book. I've actually been thinking about reviewing it as well but haven't been able to sit down to do it. I've just been trying to play catch up with all the reading material. But I think I'd like to do that this year. I remember staying up so late each night during the class with all the research. I love researching and got lost in it all lol....it was the best time!
Personally too, I would like to work on Family Study Night (or even personal study) more by choosing different topics. I'd gotten different ideas from some friends awhile back and maybe you'd all gotten them too. I'll get my file and copy it for everyone if they like.
Kerika, you will LOVE the Commentary on James book and the Proclaimers book. When the Proclaimers book first came out I was so absorbed in it and it was actually so much fun reading it.

At the beginning of the Service year I spend three months stealth pioneering where I put in the hours without signing up which raises the average publisher hours in the congregation and makes everyone feel better and more productive when the CO arrives. Personally, I get a lot done. I study with inactive ones and strengthen the publisher base. I use the Truth tract and proceed to the Bible Teach when appropriate. God's Love is fantastic to follow up and connect with the meetings. We have three deaf individuals to run an ASL group with several interpreters. Family night is my struggle. It is NOT for preparation. What do I do?

Regular auxilliary pioneering.
But that'll depend on what my school time table will be like. I'll know for sure in a few days
*sigh- the holiday's over*
Also-
- maintaining a regular personal study schedule and daily Bible reading
And I pray I get more female students to my territory this coming year or receive another territory; it's no fun when it's all guys and then you have to hand over studies.
(And then later find out that they quit studying because they assumed they'd get to study with YOU and not some other brother lol)

Great answers on here! So encouraging!!!
Angelmusic- Vot feels you- I can't put down the Yearbook till I'm done either. But then again Vot is used to getting to bed in the wee hours of the morning so that's no biggie lol
Great question sis.

Good question. Actually since I am still in school, it's a little harder, but I want to auxiliary at least once during the school year. And since this is my last year of school, as soon as I finish I am going to again auxiliary for another month and then become a regular pioneer!!!
Other than that, it's my regular routine. Study and read my Bible every night, service at least twice a week, and start as many Bible studies as I can!!

Starting September 1st, I have set a goal to read the Insight in the Scriptures, both volumes.
I have figured out that if I read 7 pages a day, I can get it done, straight through.
I read pretty fast. Every year, when I get the Yearbook, I come home from the meeting, and sit down with a cup of tea, and read till I'm done. I have made that a custom every year since 1965. Yes, I'm up for several hours into the morning, but I feel great when it is done.
I want to improve in my study of the Bible itself. More reading, more research, more understanding.
And I have a Bible study who will reach baptism. That will be a happy day for her and for me.

I also want to read both Insight Volumes. I'm so happy that angelmusic gave that 7 pages idea. I was wondering how much I should read to get it done in a timely manner. I also want to read the the commentary of James book and finish the Proclaimers book. And read the bible through once again.
I also want to work on my heart condition, which the personal study goals above will help with. Growing in love for Jehovah and His organization is definitely a goal that I'm not planning to retire from. I want to grow in compassion and understanding shown to others as well as not letting the wrong conduct of others get me down so much. Basically, not losing focus or getting distracted, come what may.
To improve in spiritual assignments that I've made a commitment to is another goal.
And cutting down on my internet use, for the above reasons.

Next service year is to continue in the same routine as we have this year. Read daily text & comments every day and meditate on its relevance to me and my family, Bible reading schedule, TMS/SM attendance and participation, Sunday meeting & FS participation every week.
My goal for this coming week is to make a veggie dish and help serve lunch to the 40 JWs at the Pioneer School. Its being held in the KH that i attend.
2 Timothy 3:14 You, however, continue in the things that you learned and were persuaded to believe, knowing from what persons you learned them 15 and that from infancy you have known the holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through the faith in connection with Christ Jesus

Better meeting attendance.
At one time, for more than 15 years, I did not miss reading one Watchtower, or Awake! I'm a little behind now, so get back to reading every issue. Read the bible through again from cover to cover (or all the way through)
I have a bible study, and get out in service, it is hard not to tell others about Jehovah.
But, like us all, do what I can.

Accelerated Bible reading . . to read right through the Bible again cover-to-cover.
I did it years ago by the congregation schedule but this time by my own agenda.
It is fast but it groups more events together so 5-6 chapters per day has given me a bigger view of some of the events as their flow is not interrupted. King Davids adventures are a good example. They spread over several chapters at a time . . a flow I missed in the past.
