Connecting to Xbox Live with a wireless router?

Alright so, I just bought an xbox and want to get xbox live. There's no way to run an ethernet cord from my modem to my xbox, but I have a wirless router hooked up to get internet on my laptop. I figured I could use my old wireless router to hook it up to my xbox. My question is will it work and how do I set it up?

I'm not a computer guy at all. I'm looking at the wireless router right now and here's what it says on the back.

Netgear

54 Mbps Wireless Router WGR614 v5

The wireless router hooked up to the internet for my laptop just says Wireless-B Broadband router.

Thanks in advance

Hi there! I've had this problem too, since my xbox used to be in my room upstairs and my modem/router downstairs. Here's what I did: i took the ethernet cord from my xbox, and plugged it into my PC(that had a wireless adapter). As long as your laptop is working and is able to connect to your wireless router, then your xbox should be able to use your laptop's internet connection to do the same. After plugging in the cord, if you're laptop is runing vista, go to network connections. click on manage network connections. right click the wireless connection symbol and go to properties. under one of the tabs, make sure to check off the box that says something along the lines of "allow other devices to connect to the internet through this device". after that, you should be able to connect to xbox live using your laptop as a giant wireless adapter. if you're running XP, just fiddle around until you find a similar box under internet connections or something. Good luck!

There's a couple of things you can do.

1: Take a look at the user manual. It should say something about connecting to Xbox live by useing a wireless router.

2: Go to "Xbox.com" and search around in the search box. Or you can go here.

    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/tips/noviceguides/...

I didn't really check if it was the information you asked for but it was titled: Novice guide. So i'm sure it can help you.

3: You can call up a friend or someone who has an xbox with Xbox live with a wireless connection. They might help you too.

Once you get Xbox live running, have fun. You can also say hello to me. Gamertag: "Sandrinoo"
