To those who know about Mirena IUD...could be TMI..?
I recently got the Mirena put in 3 days ago. My doctor told me she could shorten the string's length... So curiosity, I tried to feel the string to see how long it is... And I don't feel anything. She did tell me my body could reject it and my body would push it out. If it did come out, it would have been in some nasty blobs that came out (reaction from getting it put in)...
Is the string not touchable with fingers? TMI, i put my finger as far up as possible.. sorry if that's gross. but... why would she say the string will bother me, if I can't even touch it?? Anyone who has it as well, know anything about the string's length?

Or was she telling my husband that... if the string bothered him? I'm so confused. haha
i've never felt the string.. i just got it put it 3 days ago and too nervous to touch my vagina haha until today, curious. i was told to wait 3 weeks for intercourse, so there's no way sex would have pushed it up... it's never been cut. the doctor just said, if i wanted it shorter i can have it shorter. so i figured it would be long enough to feel it...?

Were you able to feel the strings before so you know what they feel like? It's possible you just didn't go up far enough. Go deep, touch your cervix and feel around the dimple in your cervix for the strings to be coming out of there. Most of the time if you expelled it you would have noticed it. . . it's pretty large.
She probably said if the string bothered him, you really wouldn't notice it.

I had the mirena for a year, and I could ALWAYS feel my strings, so if you are not feeling the strings then your doctor might have not put it in correctly, or like you said your body rejected it. You might have lost it while going to the bathroom, its something that you wouldnt know unless you felt. WIth my IUD the strings would sometimes get pushed up, instead of down, and it would be extremely hard to tell that they were there, so make sure that that is not the case, because any intercourse can make your strings go up. SO feel to be safe, and if the mirena did infact come out contact your doctor immediately.
