To those who have Mirena IUD?
I recently got the Mirena put in 3 days ago. My doctor told me she could shorten the string's length... So curiosity, I tried to feel the string to see how long it is... And I don't feel anything. She did tell me my body could reject it and my body would push it out. If it did come out, it would have been in some nasty blobs that came out (reaction from getting it put in)...
Is the string not touchable with fingers? TMI, i put my finger as far up as possible.. sorry if that's gross. but... why would she say the string will bother me, if I can't even touch it?? Anyone who has it as well, know anything about the string's length?
Or was she telling my husband that... if the string bothered him? I'm so confused. haha
i've never felt the string.. i just got it put it 3 days ago and too nervous to touch my vagina haha until today, curious. i was told to wait 3 weeks for intercourse, so there's no way sex would have pushed it up... it's never been cut. the doctor just said, if i wanted it shorter i can have it shorter. so i figured it would be long enough to feel it...?

You'll have to reach all the way up to your cervix in order to feel it.
It sounds like she was telling your husband that the strings might poke him during sex.

So honestly you should be fine. I couldn't feel my string until it was in for about 2 weeks. You can have some swelling after it is inserted so I just had to wait for it to go down. I would keep the strings long if I were you. When mine was long it didn't bother me but then I had ot trimmed and now it pokes me in the weirdest and most uncomfortable places. MŸ doctor said we could have sex as soon as it was inserted if we wanted because they do it right after your period so there is low chance of pregnancy. Good luck with your mirena. Might be tmi but bleeding for a long time is normal mine started 5 days after I got mirena and still has not stopped 3 months later. And that is considered normal I just can't wait until this thing does its job and I have lighter to no period. Or atleast that's what I keep telling myself... Also it might poke your husband in the pee hole... If it does you will know, he will jump. (Your husband probably deserves to be poked though, I read your other post... Sorry he did that to you) good luck though.
