I have not been able to hear out of my left ear for months.. What is wrong with me..?

Well it has almost become natural to me that my ear is almost 100% plugged cuz its been so long.. I dont know what it is.. I dont have any pain or anything, but it just happened one day when i was sick a while back...

I am currently laid off from work so my medical benefits are cut til i start back up in 2 months and the last time i went to a ENT it cost me $1400..

Its my right ear, so if i plug my left one , i hear almost nothing.. basically like im plugging both ears..

Update:

this is what someone else suggested

my mom had this happen. turned out it was fluid built up behind her ear. the pressure kept the ear drum from moving so it was the same as being deaf in that ear

dont remember how it was fixed tho... sry

Yikes. It needs to be looked at to ensure there is no permanent hearing loss.

Well I don't have my ears double pierced, but i know tons of people that do! If the pain has gone on for so long, your ears might be having a mild allergic reaction to the sterling silver since the holes are relatively new, or your ears might be a little sensitive still. It takes about a year for ear piercings to fully heal, so I'm pretty sure a little bit of soreness and pain is normal. I would recommend to not take your earrings out for a while, and clean them by applying solution with a q-tip around the piercings. That may help some. Hope I helped! =)

I'm surprise that ENT charged to much money without telling you nothing. I had the same thing and I had water inside my ear and I had to have surgery where they inserted a little tube to drain the water out. About 3 month ago I had the same thing and I went to ENT and he prescribed sudafed. I had my ear plug and I could not hear. I think you should get another opinion before you loose your hearing permanent. Cover your nose with your hand and with other hand cover you right ear and blow little by little, that what the doctor told to do and it get better. Again I think you go back to another ENT.

To be completely honest, this is something that you're going to need to see a doctor for. It could be a variety of things. When you were sick, did you take an antibiotic like Zithromax for your illness? If you took Zithromax, one of it's side effects is a possible loss of hearing. Because you're laid off right now, what you may want to consider doing is finding something like Medicaid or another option such as the "yellow card" that some community health centers offer. You'll want to make sure that it isn't something serious.

I'm sorry about your work situation.

If you go to the drugstore you can find ear-cleaner. I'm sorry I dont know what the name is I cant find our bottle. Like, its a liquid in a bottle. you pour into your ear and lay on your side for about 10 minutes and it will fizz and soak up your ear. Then you go with a Q-tip.

When it happened to me (my mom is a nurse) that worked. If not, you should probably go to a friend who is a doctor. It really could be something serious.

there's a thing you need done called, "candling" to get the blocked ear wax out. in the mean time try very warm olive oil in your ear (warm enough to melt it but not enough to burn you), let it hold it for about 5 minutes, then turn it upside down over a towel for 10 minutes and some of the stuff should come out.

sorry to sound so glamourous :D
