I am sorry people, but what Michael Vick did was so incredibly CRUEL!?

Those poor animals. Maybe he did serve his time, but he shouldn't EVER be allowed to be back on the NFL.

Update:

He should be reduce to working someplace like McDonald's............

I completely agree. Unfortunately, most of the world doesn't agree with us, especially many people that are fans of the team he signed with. It's a result of his fame. People know that he can do good for their team, so they're willing to forget the heinous things that he has done. Frankly, I think all people who are dog fighting should be locked away permanently. Whether it be jail or an asylum, because there is clearly something wrong inside their heads.

Source(s): I just want to note that that isn't a knock on philly fans. It would be the same no matter what team Vick signed with.

I used to feel the EXACT same way.

But Michael Vick did his time and deserves to play. He admited that what he did was wrong and basically lost everything he owned.

There's a complete double standard when it comes to league policy in the NFL. Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth take a human life and get to play again. But Michael Vick took life from animals and shouldn't be allowed to rebuild his life over and at least try to make a living.

I am an animal lover and the proud owner of 3 wonderful Pitbulls. I will probally never forgive Vick for what he done. But I am not the guy he has to admit his wrongs to when judgement day comes. So it's whatever.

  • I agree totally and so do about half the country. The bad thing is when you start talking to some people into football they seam to loose grip on what is right and wrong because they are obsessed with athletes to the point that it clouds any normal thought, I think they are always playing fantasy football, they turn into morons without values. It seams like the more athletic you are determines how much they are willing to overlook, Vick just happens to by very athletic so they will make up any excuse as to why he should be allowed back in just because they want to watch him run. It makes no sense at all to me.

The man did his time says a judge and is free. He has a right to make a living in his country. Would you say that he should not take your order at McDonald's? What about stock the counters at your local Wal-Mart? What if Exxon wanted to hire him as a CEO? I say he has a right. I have never been a fan of Vick but leave the man alone. I hope he has a great season because of PETA and people like them. People should be more outraged about Donte Stallworth only getting 30 day and a 1 year suspension for drunk driving and KILLING someone. I have had pets before and taken good care of them so I see where people come from but give the man a break. I am not an Eagles fan but I will root for him all season, expect when he pays against my Redskins.

It was cruel and he's learned that and changed. And if he's changed then there's no reason to punish him further. People say we it shows we're devoid of morales, but it takes greater morales to pick someone up after they trip than it does to push them back down. Others say he should have to go through the same thing as the dogs to which I quote, "An eye for an eye only makes us all blind" - Mahatma Gahndi.

How would Vick feel if he was forced to fight other men every day?

It's bad enough what Vick did, but the fact that the Eagles have employed him after all this and are paying him millions of dollars says a lot about the morality of our society

    I see.

So what you are saying is if someone is found guilty and serves out their jail sentence and meets every requirement asked of them, they still should not be allowed to work.

If John Q. Public was sentenced for dog fighting and spent 2 years in jail, he should not be allowed to get a job after he gets out, correct?

Anyone that commits a crime should never get a second chance at earning a living at the only thing they know how to do, is that what you are saying?

What he did to those animals was terrible, I agree. But a judge determined his punishment for that, as well as the NFL commissioner.

Vick will never get endorsement deals. He will never be an analyst for any network. Any publicly recognized organization will never have him as a representative of any kind.

The ONLY way he as any chance of earning a living and paying off his financial debts is to play football.

Or would you rather he default on all his debt and screw over all his creditors?

Thousands of people are released from prison every day and return to the work force, but I don't see anyone complaining about them, saying they should pay for their crimes for the rest of their lives.

Just because Vick is an NFL player, he deserves to be punished for the rest of his life??

I don't personally like Vick, or the things he did, but if he can earn a living, pay off his debts, and be a productive, law abiding person, there is no reason in my mind he shouldn't be allowed back in the league.

At least he didn't run over someone with his car, drunk and stoned.

what he did was disgusting and the fact that he did it deliberately (unlike an auto accident) is even worse BUT he has paid his debt to society....

we do not continue to punish those who did something wrong just because we can.

football is how he makes a living, i personally don't think he is that great, don't like him as a quarterback and don't believe he will ever see great success in football but it is his job. he is far better then you or me (and 6.7 billion others on earth) at what he does and should be allowed to do his job as long as he can.

if he proves to be truly remorseful he has a chance to be an advocate for PETA and ASPCA and hopefully be used as an example for the youth in the US (not a role model an example).

    EDIT:

and just what does this mean?

"He should be reduce to working someplace like McDonald's............"

I totally agree with you. I'll never forgive Vick for what he did to those dogs. If I was Goodell, I would have banned him from the NFL for life.
