why are people so stupid in horror movies?

i have the exact same question. i was watching "the unborn" and had a scene in which the lights are out and an old lady hears something and though she can't walk properly she goes down the stairs to check it out and she gets herself killed!!

you can see scenes like this in almost every horror movie....i can easily predict what happens in horror movies even without seeing them!

i guess if those things didn't happen then no horror movie would be horror! imagine that in the above mentioned scene the lady wouldn't go after the evil "thing" and went back to sleep!

Stupid Horror Movies

A horror film wouldn't be right without someone you can yell at: "No! you stupid morons!"

As a viewer sometimes you get an omniscient view of what is happening, as if you were above the whole scene watching it from a more objective point. Or you have information that people in the movie lack. "Get out of there! He's behind that door with a bloody butcher knife!"

In other cases, when confronting the source of terror, characters could be scared to the point of paralysis, both muscular and mental. If you could just move for those poor idiots frozen in place.

Because if they weren't so stupid, the movie would even have less of a point to it than it already does! Some characters in movies are more than just a few eggs short of a dozen or a few slices short of a full loaf. You have to wonder how some of these people would exist in life outside of a movie, they are so painfully dumb.

Because if people used any sense in horror movies they'd never get themselves into the scary situations in the first place, so there'd be no plot or story.

I frequently spend my half an hour to read this blog's posts daily along with a mug of coffee.

i always think that theyre comdies so im just sitting there laughing hard, and my friends are just like shut-up this is a serious scene..and im like ooohhh crap this isnt supposed to be funny..and then they look at me like im crazy..lol
