In a test, half of a class of 40 students scored 80 marks while of the remaining students scored 70 marks and the rest scored 20 marks. Which of the following statements is true?

(a) The mean and the median are the same.

(b) The mean and the mode are the same.

(c) The mean is less than the median.

(d) The mean is greater than the median.

Could you please explain to me how you get (c) mean<median?

    Mean: Add all the numbers up 80+70+20=170.

    then count each number you are adding 3 numbers.

    then you divide by 3 and 170.

    answer is 0.176 and it keeps on going.

    Median: put the number in order from least to greasiest

    the number in the middle is your answer 70.
