We think our neghbors are making some type of drugs possibly Meth How can we be sure?

Many of our other neighbors also have asked us about these next door neighbors. We've smelled what smells like ammonia and other ingredients that have been so strong at times it burns our eyes. With at least 6 other neighbors also asking us since they live next to us, is there anyway we can prove it? How can we know for sure? These neighbors are very snoopy too & watch everyone else's coming & going.

I had this problem, too. There was a meth lab in the apartment below me. I could smell it when I walked into the front door. It smelled terrible. There was a lot of coming and going on Thursday nights - the people would only stay about 5 to 10 minutes. I was told that this is normal for drug deals. They are "shopping" to get prepared for the weekend.

It is dangerous. These people accidentally shot a gun at 4 a.m. Of course, I heard it. It can also blow up and cause fire. I lived in a very nice area too, so its everywhere.

They were crawling up my fire escape - perhaps to see what they could steal out of my apartment, I don't know. But you do need to call the cops before it gets out of hand.

You can report them anonymously. Let the cops prove it once they've been notified.

You would or would not see lots of empty containers in the trash, and the foul odor when they are cooking that crap.

BUT, most police and sheriff departments don't want the bother and expense of having to shut them down.

I know because my roommate works for the EPA, and if a meth lab is found and busted, they have to completely tear the place down and remove the top soil because of contamination, and that costs the tax payers up to $20,000 per house and sometimes even more.

Report them but do not be surprised if they don't get busted.

Call the police and tell them exactly what you said here. They'll send someone over to investigate and if they pick up on anything while just looking around they'll get a warrant and wreak some havoc :)

The bad news is, a lot of the byproducts of methamphetamine production hang around for a long time - taking up to 20 years to completely biodegrade. I'm sorry to say but your neighbor's house is gonna smell bad for a while.

Yeah..call the cops anonymously..tell them there's a dangerous smell in the air.

The cops will come down & smell it as well...& follow the smell..and solve it themselves.

    Too easy...

P.S: Don't be surprised if you see a van or truck that says "Hazardous Materiel Cleaner Team" 4-8 hours after that cops find the source.
